Tunarama Festival 2023: Home of the world-famous Tuna Toss

The Tunarama Festival is the home to the globally well-known Tuna Toss. It is held annually in Port Lincoln on the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia over the weekend closest to the Australia Day public holiday in January. This splendid event has been on for quite some time and the 61st Tunarama festival will happen in January 2023.

Tunarama comes with a number of amazing participation events, arts and cultural displays, some of the best and fresh seafood in the world, and local market stalls, this is definitely something for the entire family to relish. The whole event lasts for 4 days and it is sponsored by the Port Lincoln Community bank.

Your experience at the Tunarama Festival

All the participants are required to register for the event from 8:00 am at the information booth on the day of the competition and to have completed all formalities 30 minutes prior to the event’s kick-off.

There are various ways in which you can become a participant in this event and they include; joining the committee, becoming a financial member, being a volunteer, when you are a performer, just to mention a few.

Regardless of your age, this entire festival leaves a mark in your mind with a variety of amazing things to choose from like; the Bunnings boat building competition, DK Quarries kid’s Olympics, Qantaslink Fireworks draw, Keg roll, Li’l Mr. and Miss competition for kids, and much more. The festival being a family-focused festival, all the children’s activities and performances are free of charge.

An event is not complete without some food and wine. Fascinating enough is that Spencer Gulf King Prawn’s Eyre Square is the food and wine provider for the Tunarama festival which showcases the best products from the region. The square will be stationed on the Port Lincoln foreshore grass, overlooking the stunning Boston bay. With performances from local and South Australian artist on the ABSTIA festival stage, you wouldn’t want to miss out.

Things to do in Port Lincoln

Besides attending the magnificent Tunarama festival, there are other creative and wonderful things that you can participate in. You can go to the Spencer Gulf King Prawns EYRE square where you’ll get to taste the food, wine, and local products.

There is also the carnival of the sea which is a well-known family thing and it includes all children’s activities and performances. You can also participate in some General Competitions available.
