Local and international DJs come together to celebrate electro music creating a soundtrack for a day of dance and fun-filled activities. From tobogganing and ice skating to fairground rides and fire pits you’re sure to find something to keep you entertained.
Dress up in your most colourful ski gear (think: stripy scarves, bright bobble hats and striking salopettes) to stand out from the crowd and earn yourself an award for best in show at the crazy Sneeuwbal Festival.

Sneeuwbal Festival hosts an array of food and beverage vendors to you can enjoy hearty German bratwurst, warming cups of Glügwein and Dutch winter soups to warm you from the inside out.
Sneeuwbal Festival takes place in the heart of Park Transwijk an expansive park and garden in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The festival features both indoor (heated) and outdoor sections so you’ll want to layer up warm so you can enjoy both parts equally.
Despite not being anywhere near a mountain, most will be dressed in their full ski gear ready for a nine-hour après-ski-style celebration!
Sneeuwbal Festival is easily accessible by public transport thanks to the city’s great links. Take the overground from Utrecht Central Station, getting off at Vasco da Gammalaan to reach the festival. From here, the park is around a five-minute walk away. There will be plenty of signage leading you towards the festival, so just keep your eye out for the grump Sneeuwbal penguin and you’ll know you are on the right track!
Alternatively, the festival can be reached by car (although you’ll need to connect with the overground at Transferium Westraven (P+R)) or, in true Dutch style, by bike.
Please note: once you have entered the festival you won’t be able to exit and re-enter, so make sure you have everything you need with you when entering the festival. Lockers and safe boxes are available to rent for any items you don’t wish to lug around all day.
As Sneeuwbal Festival is well connected by public transport, festivalgoers can opt to stay anywhere in the city. You can even stay outside of Utrecht and connect with Utrecht Central Station by midday and still catch the start of the festival!

The Festival takes place from 2-11pm on Saturday 29th January so why not make a long weekend of your time in Utrecht?
The city is home to some wonderful architecture such as Dom Tower of Utrecht, De Haar Castle and St. Martin’s Cathedral. Wander along the old canal (Oudegracht) for a peaceful before the party in the park begins.
You might not be up to much exploring the day after Sneeuwbal, so seek out one of Utrecht’s trendy cafes to enjoy a piping hot cup of coffee (or two!) and a long, slow brunch!
