The fifth stop on the Men’s and Women’s Surfing Championship Tour 2024. One never quite knows what they’re going to get when they land in Margaret River in wild and wooly Western Australia. The surf can be quadruple overhead and terrifying at main break.

Or hop across the channel to the slab known simply as “The Box” and things get spine-tinglingly dangerous. But then on an average it “Margs” can serve up a playful left and right peak.

With its green, rolling hills serving as a pastoral backdrop, the rest of the world seems to fall away when you’re in West Oz. The pace of life slows down, the coast is raw, the seafood delicious and the wine tasting phenomenal.

If it’s a walkabout you’re after, Margaret River is an epic place to take your first steps. 

Things to do in Margaret River

There are a ton of fantastic restaurants in the area. Margs is famous for it’s wines so be sure to explore some of the wineries.

There is some great mountain biking trails in Margaret River as well as Busselton, Dunsborough.

Check out the beaches in the region such as Yallinup, Boodjidup. There are so many surf spots to choice from and exploring is a must up and down the coast.

How to get there

From the main airport in Perth the easiest way is to rent a car from the airport and drive down the Kwinana Freeway then Forrest Freeway approximately 3 hours south (277 km’s) until you reach the spectacular chilled back town of Margaret River.

You can also take public transport and grab a coach. South West Coach Lines offers coaches from Perth leaving daily from the City Bus Port, Domestic Airport and Perth International Airport. You can also take TransWA which operates a daily bus service from East Perth.

Margaret River Pro 2024 Dates

The 5th stop on the Men’s CT will be held from April 11-21, 2024.
