Lollapalooza Brazil 2019: 3 Days You Cannot Miss!

Lollapalooza Brazil is returning to São Paulo this April for three days of music, madness and more. The Chicago based music festival has now expanded to various locations around South America and Europe. The three-day event in Brazil features over 60 of the hottest local and international acts; spread out across four different stages. Also occupying the Autodromo de Interlagos, a wide range of art, dining and markets will make up the annual event.

This year’s lineup features an impressive local and international artists and headlining acts. Friday will be headlined by international superstars Arctic Monkeys, Tribalistas and Sam Smith. Popular DJ’s Tiesto, KSHMR, Zhu and Fisher will also make up the first day’s schedule. Day two will see Kings of Leon, Post Malone and Lenny Kravitz headlining; with EDM superstars Steve Aoki and Odesza making an appearance.

English rock band Bring Me The Horizon will also head over for a special live performance. Kendrick Lamar and Twenty One Pilots will close out the final day of the event. Sharing the stage will be former world number one DJ’s Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike; as well as RL Grime, Don Diablo and Rufus Du Sol.

How to get around Sao Paulo

The Brazilian city of Sao Paulo features two major airports. The largest airport is Guarulhos International Airport, located 25km North East of the city centre. Congonhas Airport is also located nearby, approximately 10km South of the city centre. Both airports operate domestic and international flights from most major airlines. 

Upon arrival, there are many transport options to help travel around the city. Sao Paulo offers a wide range of public transport options including buses, the subway and a railway system. The bus system is the most convenient way to travel, with over 16,000 buses making up the majority of the city’s public transport system. The Sao Paulo Metropolitan Transport Network passes through 178 stations across 13 lines and is the largest rail transport system in Latin America. Taxi’s and Ubers are also available throughout the city; however, it is recommended to use apps such as Cabify, 99Taxis and EasyTaxi to ensure safety. 

Located in the neighbourhood of Interlagos, the Autodromo de Interlagos is approximately 22km south of the city centre. The festival can be accessed by car as well as public transport. Lollapalooza also offers ‘Lolla Transfers’, ensuring a safe and convenient transfer to and from the event each day. Transfers depart from various hotels in and around the city and must be booked in advance.

Things to do in Sao Paulo

Located in the vibrant financial centre of Brazil, Sao Paulo is one of the most populous cities in the world; and offers plenty to see and do. One of the most popular destinations for visitors is Ibirapuera Park, a scenic park and cultural centre with a range of museums, planetariums, auditoriums and recreation areas. A number of popular museums include Pinacoteca do Estado de Sao Paulo, Museum of Art of Sao Paulo Assis Chateaubriand and Sao Paulo Museum of Modern Art. 

The city also features a number of stunning historical architectural destinations; including the Altino Arantes Building, Municipal Theatre of Sao Paulo and Sao Paulo Cathedral. Paulista Avenue is known for its bustling street filled with museums, cultural institutions and shopping malls; including popular mall Rua 25 de Marco. 

A number of parks and gardens are also featured throughout the city and offer walking paths, bike trails, soccer fields and more. Villa-Lobos State Park is one of the most popular parks in the city, while Jardim Botanico de Sao Paulo offers many native and endangered plants and number of walking trails. For a more scenic and outdoor experience, you can head to Pico do Jaragua or Parque Estadual da Cantareira and explore take on the various running and hiking trails through the mountains and urban forest.

Fisher – Australian DJ and producer Fisher has rapidly risen to the top of the charts with his catchy house and techno beats. Known for his popular summer tracks such as Ya Kidding and Losing it, the Brazilian crowd will be sure to ‘lose it’ during his performance.

Odesza – American duo Odesza have grown to become one of the hottest acts in the world. Their perfect blend of genres from folk to film scores have seen them top the Billboard charts and even nominated for a Grammy. Fresh off their ‘A Moment Apart’ world tour, the duo will be sure to bring their brand new tracks down south for an unforgettable performance. 

Twenty-One Pilots – American musical duo Twenty One Pilots have become one of the most popular alternative bands in the world. Responsible for some of the biggest radio hits in the world such as Stressed Out and Heathens, the multi-award-winning group will have the entire crowd singing along.
