The Isle of Wight Festival is a four-day iconic island event, considered one of the 10 best rock festivals in Europe it features an amazing range of headline acts and up-and-coming artists. From Bob Dylan’s seminal gig in 1969 to main-stage performances by the likes of The Killers, David Guetta, Fleetwood Mac and The Who, the Isle of Wight festival line-up is sure to impress.
Although the festival did not run between 1971 and 2001, it is now back in full swing with the artist selection and festival schedule being created annually by John Giddings. The festival has won numerous awards and is known for being a family-friendly event which still manages to attract everyone from 8-80 years old! Children aged 12 and under go free and teen tickets are available for 13-17 year olds.
Not only does the Isle of Wight festival promise an alluring roster of musical talent, it also plays host to film, comedy, theatre, poetry and circus events. This ensures that even those with the world’s shortest attention spans couldn’t possibly be bored!
Dip into downward dog at Disco Yoga, take part in some friendly competitions to win peculiar prizes, challenge your friends to a dance-off or simply pig-out on some delicious dining at the numerous food outlets around the event.

The Isle of Wight Festival is located in the centre of the island near to Newport. The festival features a range of stages and areas from the Main Stage and Big Top to the Hard Rock Stage which introduces new music.
The festival features an app with detailed information about schedules, stages, facilities and safety so you can plan your own event at your leisure.
The only way to reach the Isle of Wight from England is by ferry which can take both car and foot passengers. Ferries can be taken from Portsmouth, Southampton, Lymington and Southsea each of which can be accessed by bus or train.
Foot passengers often receive a reduced rate fare if booked for the festival. If arriving by car it is best to ensure you have a full vehicle to cut costs.
There are a number of on-site accommodation options at the festival from simple General Camping to glamping, caravan spots and boutique tipis so there’s something for everyone.
If any sort of camping (no matter how luxurious) is roughing it too much for you, you can stay at local accommodation during the festival. With a great range of hotels, guesthouses and self-catering cottages and apartments available all over the island (and decent transport links to the festival) you’ll be able to find your home-away-from-home for a few days. Be sure to book up in advance though as the island gets busy during the festival!
