Brighton Festival is an annual event hosted in various locations throughout the city of Brighton, England. The festival is one of many Rad worldwide festivals held in May. The three-week festival celebrates music, theatre, dance, circus, art, film, literature, debate and more.

Established in 1967, Brighton Festival has grown to become one of Europe’s leading arts festivals. Known for its ambitious programmes and innovative talent, the festival has attracted a range of international and inspiring directors; including musicians, politicians, authors and more.

Children’s Parade – Featuring over 5000 children, the annual opening parade kicks off Brighton Festival with a showcase of energy and creativity. Participants from schools and community organizations across Sussex will celebrate this year’s theme ‘Folk Tales from Around the World’, following six months of preparation. The event is entirely free to watch and is the perfect way to kick off your Brighton Festival experience.

Pitch Perfect – The perfect opportunity to hear young and talented local musicians is Pitch Perfect. The free event and showcases unplugged pop and folk-inspired acts as well as string quartets and chamber wind ensembles.

How to get to Brighton

The English city of Brighton is easily accessible by a range of methods. The nearest major airport is London Gatwick Airport, located approximately 30 minutes from the city of Brighton by both train and car.

Brighton can be reached from London and other major cities in the UK by both train and bus. Traveling from London Victoria or London Bridge to Brighton by train will take just under an hour. A range of bus services operate throughout Brighton and many routes serve each of the festival venues.

The festival can also be accessed by car, with a range of parking options available for visitors. The NCP Theatre Car Park on Church St offers parking for 6 pounds between 5 pm and 3 am, with a further 30% discount for Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival Members. You can also take advantage of the special evening rate at the RCP North Road car park for 5.50 pounds.
