The world’s best action sports athletes are landing in Sydney in October…and thanks to your friends here at Rad Season, you can join them.
Here’s the deal, for over 20 years ESPN’s X Games has been pushing action sports athletes to perform their best. From the top of the big air skateboard ramp, to the best whip on a moto, it’s the only international event that combines skateboarding, BMX and Moto X into one nonstop shred fest.
For the Sydney incarnation, expect skaters like Nyjah Huston, BMXer Garrett Reynolds and Aussie Moto masters Josh Sheehan and Clinton Moore to be doing their thing. Over the history of the X Games, the Aussies have been especially successful, claiming 138 medals over two decades. Forty-five of those medals have been gold from either summer or winter X games. Needless to say, the local fans will have heaps to cheer about.
Being that this is the X Games first time coming to Sydney, there’s going to be a lot to celebrate. Besides the performances of skaters and riders, this installment of the X Games will feature a myriad of musical performances, art installations and a festival experience. ESPN boasts that it will “have a distinctly Australian flavor, showcasing the beautiful city and culture of Sydney in everything from the course designs to the medals, and highlighting the avid youth culture in Sydney throughout the festival village and live coverage.”
X Games Sydney 2018 will run from October 19-21, 2018, at the Spotless Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park. The area was redeveloped in for the Olympic Games in 2000 and is the perfect setting for an X Games gathering.
