Celebrating its 8th edition in 2019, Wheels & Waves is going back to its origins at this year’s official event. The annual five-day event takes place in the coastal city of Biarritz in France; and is centred around motorcycles, surfing and skateboarding, as well as the culture that goes with it. Wheels & Waves celebrates music, visual arts and every other form of self-expression along the way.
Tickets are available for single events, as well as one, two, three and five day passes. Single event passes are valid for one event only and are available exclusively from the ticket counter on site for 10 euros. Single day passes start at 25 euros, two day/weekend passes (Saturday & Sunday) start at 40 euros and three-day passes (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) start at 60 euros. Five day passes give you unlimited access to the entire festival site; including the village, Artride, Punk’s Peak Race, El Rollo, Swank Rally X Wheels and Waves enduro rave, Log Invitational and more; and are available for 90 euros. Children under 15 can also enter for free, accompanied by an adult with a ticket.
The event kicks off on Wednesday, with the official Opening of the Village; from 10 am to 11 pm and happy hour from 6-8 pm. Throughout the event, visitors have access to a range of screenings and concerts, as well as a front row seat for some of the best surf, skate and riding action. A number of contests and races will take place throughout the week at various locations throughout Biarritz and Jaizkibel.
The Log Invitational Surf Contest is a longboard contest, which invites the best local and visiting international talent. The event features old school rules with 36 surfers, 9 feet logs, a single fin and no leash! Hosted and run by Damien Marly, this event will take place at Plage de la Milady on all five days of the event. Good fun and high spirits will be guaranteed at this event!
100 pilots, 4 categories, 400 meters, 1 spring and 550 meters altitude. Punk’s Peak Spring Race is a historic race that has grown to become a rendezvous of the motorcycle world. This event takes place at Jaizkibel on Wednesday and is open to everyone and all types of motorcycles.
Bringing together generations and opening up the village to younger crowds, the Hit The Deck Skate Contest is one of the most iconic events of Wheels & Waves. Previous editions have welcomed legendary figures such as Christian Hosoi and Steve Cabellero; who will return this year alongside many other skateboarding heroes. This event takes place at Cité de l’Océan Biarritz on all five days of the event.
This event features 6km of muddy winding dirt tracks and guarantees 100% pleasure! Accessible to all riders, this event is dedicated to enduro and off-road motorcycles daily riders also have the opportunity to attend. This event takes place at Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle on Friday and spectators can enjoy a panoramic view of the track.
Home to one of the most exclusive flat race tracks in the world, El Rollo has earned its place in the motorcycle world. The quarter-mile of pure fun is open to any level, with a beginner category available for more adventurous visitors. This event the place to be for all motorcycle fanatics (riders and observers alike) and takes place at the Hippodrome de San-Sebastian on Saturday.
In 2019, Wheels and Waves will also present the official Garage Shapers Exhibition. The peer-voted surf contest will host shapers from around the world and see them ride unique 7 feet long boards. You can see and enjoy the entire board making process at this event.
