Carhaix comes alive as the Vieilles Charrues Festival takes place, satisfying each and everyone’s craving for impeccable live acts in a gorgeous locale, spread out over several days. It’s one of France’s most well-loved festivals, and that’s saying a lot. The first event was held in 1992, in a tiny village called Landeleau. It continued to grow in scale, and because it started attracting thousands of music enthusiasts, the venue was eventually moved to Carhaix.
Vieilles Charrues Festival sets itself apart in the French festival scene; no other event has managed to bring in acts as diverse and entertaining as this.
For several days, patrons will be treated to national and international greats, all while enjoying a variety of thoughtfully curated drinks and food within the festival site. It’s the perfect opportunity to revel in the beauty of French summer, as you party outdoors both day and night. Past headliners have featured mammoth acts such as Depeche Mode, Kygo, Gorillaz, Die Antwoord, Arcade Fire, Macklemore, Manu Chao La Ventura, Carlos Santana, Neil Young, Snoop Dogg, and hundreds more. For 2019, an intoxicating mix of artists will once again grace the stages: Martin Garrix, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Tears for Fears, The Chainsmokers, MHD, and Booba to name a few. Vieilles Charrues Festival takes place in a gorgeous, natural amphitheater in Site de Kerampuilh, Carhaix, France.
Patrons may choose from single day passes, customize your own day tickets, a 3-day pass, 4-day pass, 2-day pass, and much more. Kids up to 14 years of age can avail of the tickets at half price.
The Carhaix train station provides affordable and efficient transportation within the region of Carhaix-Plouguer. The train stations can also take you to other areas suitable for road transport, where you can hire taxis. Ferries and boats are a scenic way of getting around Brittany’s coastal towns as well.
Festival tickets are inclusive of access to the exclusive camping grounds on the day indicated on your pass. All you need to do is bring your own camping equipment. If you prefer to stay in other types of accommodations, cabins and tipis are also available at the Woodcamp.
