Tons Of Rock Festival 2024: Norway’s Biggest Open Air Rock Festival

Tons Of Rock is Norway’s biggest open-air festival for rock and metal music. Now in its 7th year, the 2022 edition will bring three days of epic music on ‘the rooftop of Oslo’. The festival operates with a free/no age limit and children under the age of 8 can enter for free. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Tons Of Rock Festival 2024 Lineup

This year’s edition of Tons Of Rock Festival will welcome more than 35 artists to the three-day event; including exclusive performances.

Previious year’s lineup have included UK metal legends Iron Maiden headlined. Along with Europe, Mastodon and Sum41, The Darkness, Steel Panther, Bring Me The Horizon and Faith No More, Turbonegro and Deep Purple.

How to get around Oslo

The city of Oslo offers an efficient and reliable public transport system, making it easy to get around. The nearest airport is Oslo Airport, located 45km north of the city centre. Visitors can travel between the airport and city via the ‘Flytoget’ express shuttle train. The train operates every 10 minutes between 5.35 am and 12.35 am and tickets are approximately $20.

Throughout the city, you can find buses, trams, subways, ferries and trains. Ruter operates all public transport services and tickets start at around $5 per trip. 24 hour, 7 days, 30 days and 365 days travel passes are also available. It is recommended for visitors to purchase the ‘Oslo Pass’, which offers unlimited free travel between zones 1 and 2 in the city.

Located just outside the Old Town, the festival grounds are easily accessible by car and public transport. Departing at Oslo Central Station, visitors can travel to and from the venue by bus, tram or metro. You can take bus routes 34 or 74 to Ekeberg Camping, tram routes 18 and 19 to Sportsplassen or Metro routes 1 and 4 to Brattlikollen.

Festival shuttle buses will also operate throughout the festival, transferring passengers between the festival and Oslo Opera House. Parking is also available on site for visitors who are driving; however, due to limited parking spaces, it is recommended to travel via public transport.
