Provinssi Festival 2019: The Festival of the People

Provinssi is one of the oldest and most well-known festivals in Finland. Originating in 1979, the event annually kicks off the festival season each in Seinäjoki each June. Welcoming more than 30,000 visitors each year, the festival regularly presents the hottest and freshest local and international superstars. In addition to world-class music, the festival is also known for its unique atmosphere, which is close to the wild Nordic nature.

This year’s edition of Provinssi Festival will showcase more than 90 local and international artists across three days. Macklemore, Bring Me The Horizon and Anne-Marie will headline the first day of the event. Sharing the stage will be Flogging Molly, Converge, Tesseract and more. Friday will showcase headliners Limp Bizkit, Cypress Hill and Lamb of God. Closing out the event on Saturday will be Papa Roach, Yelawolf and JVG Behemoth. Other notable acts include Anna Puu, Cult Of Luna, and Elias Gould.

Provinssi Festival takes place at Törnävänsaari, Seinäjoki, located 3km outside the Seinäjoki city centre. You can find the event at Törnävänsaari 20, 60200 Seinäjoki.

How to get around Seinäjoki

The city of Seinäjoki is easily accessible by car and public transport. Visitors can travel directly to the city centre by train and bus from all major cities in Finland. The festival grounds are located around 4km from the city centre. The route can be walked in approximately one hour; however, festival shuttles are also available to transfer visitors to and from the event. Taxis are readily available at the main railway station, as well as by the east and west entrances of the festival. Parking is available at the festival grounds; however, spaces are limited. It is recommended to take public transport, as there will be heavy traffic around the festival area.

Where to stay for Provinssi Festival 2019

Provinssi Festival offers a number of accommodation options for visitors. Camp Provinssi is the festival’s official camping site, which is reserved for festival guests and tent accommodation only. Visitors can purchase a camping and festival ticket combined for 189 euros, or a camping pass add-on for 49 euros. The campground is fully equipped with a 24/7 kiosk, food stalls, toilets, showers, saunas and more.

Located just 300 metres from the festival, the nearby school offers dorm style accommodation. School accommodation can be purchased for one, two or three days and parking spaces are available at the school for 25 euros per car. 600 metres from the festival’s main entrance, you can find reservable caravan and camper van spots. Spots start at 150 euros plus 40 euros for each additional person and include electricity and toilet and shower facilities.

Things to do in Seinäjoki

The city of Seinäjoki offers a number of attractions and things to do. The city has a range of popular sights and landmarks such as the Aalto Center of Seinäjoki, Ylistaron kirkko and the Lakeuden Risti Church. You can also find Dudesons Activity Park, a popular amusement park nearby.
