Mysteryland is the longest running dedicated electronic music festival in the world.

Year after year The Netherlands brings it at Mysteryland, where 100,000 revellers drop into the undulating hills of the Floriade terrain near Amsterdam to celebrate, friendship, nature and their love for music.

More than 300 artists perform on 17 live stages, featuring a wide range of musical genres from house, big room, bass, techno, deep-house, trance, trap, hardcore, RnB and hip hop. 2018 Headliners included Alesso, Axwell Ingrosso, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Fatboy Slim and Hardwell, performing on the The Main Stage, Q-dance stage, and the Big Top Tent.

These stages range from outdoor dance floors to massive tents filled with LED screens, laser shows with advanced sound systems. Stages are complimented by green pathways to chill out zones complete with art installations, food courts and unexpected encounters with like-minded explorers.

Chi gung, cacao ceremonies, massages, yoga and meditation sessions are all available in The Healing Garden for those seeking enlightenment. Boat trips are available along the waterways and a central altar is lit on fire as the antics only ramp up more towards the end of the festival.

‘Join thousands of party animals as they let their inner wild animal escape onto 17 dance floors, living the days and the nights just as they come, complete with fireworks, confetti and goosebumps.’

Get a tattoo, haircut or reinvent your costume at the hippie street market while eating from over 70 food vendors including wood fired pizza, Indian, Mexican, Vietnamese, German and Dutch cuisine, midnight snacks, healthy wraps, sweet crepes, french toast, ice cream and cocktails.

The campsite is a mellow place where blissing out to early bird calls and doing yoga in your spirit animal get up is acceptable. A silent disco runs all night long.

Where does the Mysteryland Festival take place?

Mysteryland takes place at Haarlemmermeer near Amsterdam in in the province of North Holland. The town’s name refers to Haarlem’s Lake, where the festival is held on it’s shoreline. It is located a 40 minute drive from Amsterdam. The green hills are sparsely populated and there are 26 small villages in the area.

How to get around

With people spread around the area, there are many travel options available, including easy access to Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.

There is a large train station at Schiphol with direct links into Amsterdam and there are also train stations at Nederlandse Spoorwegen and Nieuw-Vennep. 

There are plenty of places to hire cars from both the airport and also from Amsterdam. If driving to Haarlemmermeer there are very good road links from Amsterdam on the A4, A5 and the A44 highways.

There are good bus links in the area, both from Schiphol and from Amsterdam as well as local buses that connect up most of the towns and villages.

Where to stay for Mysteryland 2019

There is a magical festival campsite for its wild animal dance dwellers. Packages include friendship camping, group camping, luxury love domes, wooden tiny houses and luxury lodges.

There are also festival approved hotels, hostels and guesthouses available in Amsterdam or on Lake Haarlem itself. Check out the map below for all the hotels and Airbnb’s in the area. 

The Tulip Inn is situated only 3 kilometers away from both the city center and Schiphol airport. The hotel is equipped with a cozy bar where you can order wide variety of delicious drinks. All rooms are equipped with comfortable beds, a TV, Wi-Fi and a bathroom with a shower and toilet.

Hostel Stayokay Haarlem is located on the edge of Haarlem and is equipped with a free parking lot and free Wi-Fi. The hostel offers dorms with 4-7 beds. All rooms are mixed (male and females in together), and the the hostel’s bar is called The Shuffle.

Things to do in Haarlemmermeer

There are few attractions in the area to reward those seeking some interesting sights.

The Museum De Cruquius is one of the original pumping houses that pumped out all the water from the Haarlemmermeer Lake. The steam engine was the largest steam engine ever made. It is also on the European Route Of Industrial Heritage.  There is also a constructed 40 metre tall hill, called Spotters Hill which gives you a good view of the park and its surroundings.

Escape World in Hoofddorp contains high quality escape room experiences using the latest technologies. Experiences include The Inca’s Doom and The Grand Casino, each theme has an exciting and different story, puzzles and codes combined with a cinematic experience.
