Your experience at the Berlin New Year’s Eve celebration

Thousands of people, strangers and friends, gather to ring in the new year together. There are food stands set up all along the festival area and feature all sorts of food from all sorts of places in the world. The party officially starts at 7pm and the party really gets going as soon as the fireworks go off and lasts early into the morning on the first.

As a heads up to festival-goers, there are security checkpoints at all entrances that check for pointed or sharp items or any other items which could be used as weapons like glass bottles, backpacks and large bags. The event is meant to be enjoyed by everyone – so don’t be that person and bring something you shouldn’t.

The best place to watch New Year’s in Berlin is between Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column in Berlin, Germany as well as Alexanderplatz. You can also try hitting up one of the nightclubs across Berlin. 

How to get around Berlin

Berlin is an easy city to get around in. The public transport is super nice and easy to use. They have the subway that runs underground, busses and trams, a railway, taxis and ferries. Travelers can make use of buying a travel pass to use for the busses and subway.

People also make use of bicycles and walking. To get to the party it is advised to take a bus – Berlin, Reichstag/Bundestag or the Berlin, Platz der Republik – taxi or ride a bike, that way you can walk around the party carefree.

Things to do in Berlin

Berlin is a city that is ideal for anyone to visit, even if you’re not able to make it for the NYE celebration. There are nearly 300 museums to visit while in Berlin for an educational yet interesting step back in time. There is the Holocaust Museum, Pergamonmuseum, Game Science Center and the Brucke Museum amongst various others dedicated to history as well as the arts and sciences and all things weird like the David Hasselhoff Museum.

You have to visit the remains of the Berlin Wall. Berlin has a really cool Dinosaur amusement park called Spreepark, Monster Kabinett is a cross between a haunted house and art gallery and Luquidrom is a saltwater float tank where you can listen to techno music while floating. Berlin also has heaps of beautiful botanical gardens and lovely cafes. Of course, they have a lot of good pubs with a lot of good beer.
