WeCanDance 2019: Safari Nomads

WeCanDance is an annual summer music festival that takes place on Zeebrugge Beach in Belgium. The unique boutique festival owes its identity to three cornerstones: music, food and fashion. #WECANDANCE offers a wide range of musical styles varying from the familiar to the experimental. #WECANTASTE features a radically different approach to food, stepping away from fast food and focusing on qualitative meals; bringing unconventional to the table. #WECANDRESS indulges in the area of fashion and self-expression, teaming up with influential figures in the fashion scene and producing limited collections to reflect the theme of the festival.

We Can Dance Lineup 2019

This year’s theme will be centred around ‘Safari Nomads’, taking visitors on a journey without boundaries or frontiers. The unique and diverse lineup will perform across a number of themed stages throughout the event. Friday will feature the likes of Dauw & Schemering, DJ Tennis, Hangar Soundsystem, Jeniffer Cardini and Mardeleva. There also be live performances from Âme, Kerala Dust and Stavroz. Saturday will be headlined by Acid Pauli Bendrik, Birds of Mind, Exon, Géo and more. There will also be live performances from Claire Laffut, Mathew Jonson, Tessa Dixson, Tsar B and Tundra. The final day will welcome the likes of Black Mamba, Jan Van Biesen, Faisal, John Noseda and more.

WeCanDance takes place at Zeebrugge Beach in Bruges, Belgium. You can find the event at Zeedijk, 8380 Bruges, Belgium. 

How to get around Bruges

Located in western Belgium, the nearest major airport is Brussels Airport; approximately an hour and a half from Bruges. Direct intercity trains are frequently available between Brussels and Bruges, for easy and affordable transportation between the cities. 

The festival grounds are easily accessible by both car and public transport. Parking is available near the festival area but spots are limited so it is recommended to carpool and arrive early. If you are travelling by public transport, you can take the train to  Zeebrugge Strand or the bus to Zeebrugge Strandwijk. You can also take the tram to Zeebrugge Strandwijk.

WeCanDance offers official accommodation at Sunparks. You can book a house directly through the festival, with houses available for 2-8 people and flexible arrival and departure times. The city of Bruges also offers countless accommodation options. The nearest hotel is Hotel Atlas; located adjacent to the festival grounds. H

Things to do in Bruges

The city of Bruges offers a number of popular activities and attractions. One of the city’s main attractions is the Belfry of Bruges; a medieval bell tower with 366 steps to the top of the tower, with panoramic views of the city. Nearby you can find Markt, the bustling central plaza of Bruges; featuring historic buildings, eateries and more.

You can also find a number of historical attractions, such as the Church of Our Lady Bruges, the Basilica of the Holy Blood and Sint-Salvatorskathedraal. Bruges is also home to a variety of popular museums, including Frietmuseum, the museum exhibiting the history of potatoes and Belgian fries (with samples)!
