When choosing a place to stay, opt for somewhere as close as possible to the Huntington Beach Pier, where the US Open of Surfing will be taking place. That way, you can be near the action without having to brave the traffic. And with all the early morning surfing competition to watch, you’ll be grateful for the short commute.
Huntington Beach is plagued by parking meters and two-hour parking limits. During the Vans US Open, congestion is rampant. Bring or rent a bicycle to explore the area, especially if you arrive late and have to park far away. Though many contest-goers use a skateboard as transport, it will be annoying to carry throughout the day and is susceptible to getting stolen.
Aside from the iconic surf competition, the Vans US Open of Surfing also hosts skateboarding contests, BMX events, live music, fashion shows, brand booths where you can score free swag, and much more.
