“Musical islands are sailing to Prague!”
This year, United Islands of Prague will combine the celebration of the United Islands with the celebration of freedom and commemoration of the anniversary of the fall of the Iron Curtain. Musicians from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Germany and the Czech Republic will perform. The main program of the event is ‘freedom island’, which will be headlined by Polish rock group Trupa Trupa, Danish group The Deadnotes and Hungarian band Saverne. Other performers include The Actavists, Walter Schnizelsson and From Our Hands.
United Islands of Prague will take place at Křižíkova in Prague’s secret neighbourhood gem of Karlín. You can find the event at Křižíkova, 18600 Prague, Czech Republic.
The city of Prague offers one of the best public transport systems in Europe, making it easy to get around. The nearest airport is Václav Havel Airport, located approximately 18km west of the city centre. Visitors can travel on bus routes 119, 100 or 179 between the airport and the city centre. An airport express bus is also available, stopping at Prague’s main train station and taxis are also readily available.
When travelling around the city, there is a range of options such as the metro, trams and buses. The metro is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get around, with over 50 stations across three lines throughout the city of Prague. Tickets start at 24 CZK (approximately $1) for a 30-minute ticket, which can be used on any type of public transport. Tickets are also available for 30 or 90 minutes and 24 or 72 hours. Visitors can also purchase a Prague Card for 2, 3 or 4 days, which allows unlimited access to public transport as well as a free airport transfer.
Visitors can travel to the event via metro, tram or bus. The nearest metro station is Křižíkova, which can be accessed directly from the city centre. Tram lines 3, 24, 25 and 92 and bus route H1 also pass through the neighbourhood of Karín.
Located just outside the city centre of Prague, the neighbourhood of Karlín features a range of accommodation options. The Czech capital offers a number of attractions and things to see and do. The old town is one of the most frequently visited parts of the city. You can find popular attractions such as the Old Town Hall, the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn, the Prague Astronomical Clock and more.
Home to the famous Wenceslas Square, National Museum and shopping streets, the new town, also known as Nove Mesto, is also a popular area to visit. The Little Quarter of Mala Strana is a popular historic area where you can find a number of palaces, gardens, churches and more. To get to Mala Strana, you can cross a number of bridges along the river, include the famous Charles Bridge, which connects the quarter to the city centre.
