Super Bock Super Rock is one of the most popular Portuguese festivals, held in Lisbon. Having gained little by little an enviable reputation over the past 25 years, its roots are in rock music, but the festival also now includes pop, hip hop and electronic music. With the choice of two large outdoor stages, two indoor stages, the MEO Arena, heading to the trendy Portuguese waterfront this Summer is a must.
In recent years Kendrick Lamar, Future, Fatboy Slim and Disclosure, among hundreds of others have performed. Areas throughout the festival include these stages, chill out areas, bars and the VIP Zone. This zone offers a high quality catering service and cheap drink for it’s guests.
Many of the stages have simultaneous live music concerts and the Calsberg Stage is used primarily for dance.
The festival showcases a cross-section of both music’s esteemed players and its up-and-comers, of many which are locals, giving party goers an opportunity to immerse into Portugal’s live music culture itself. The festival also has a history of secretly bringing legendary tribute shows to honour rock and pop music history, including Prince and Bowie shows to surprise its festival goers.

The festival headquarters are located the Parque De Nações in Lisbon, the festival brings us 3 days of fun in the heart of this lively capital. Parque das Nações is a redeveloped area on the Tagus River. Green spaces with public art link striking contemporary buildings. Nearby are trendy waterfront restaurants and the glass-roofed Centro Vasco da Gama, with shops and cinemas.
Lisbon’s road infrastructure is brilliant. There are metro trains with a direct link from Lisbon airport to the festival. There are commuter and shuttle bus to hop on and off around the city. There is car parking at the festival for car hire and ridesharing. Plus there’s a local city taxi service and UBER available.
There are many “festival chosen” hotels to stay at around Lisbon for the festival. Lisbon has many high end hotels, guesthouses and budget hostels for travellers to choose from.
The 4-star Olaias Park Hotel is a short drive or train ride from the festival. All rooms have a minibar, satellite TV, and an en suite bathroom and there is daily breakfast. There is a restaurant and cocktail bar as well as an outdoor swimming pool.
Also located within easy train distance is the Hotel 3K Madrid, offering rooms with a flat-screen TV and minibar. All air conditioned rooms have a hairdryer and a private bathroom, in addition to a laptop-size safe. Daily breakfast and wine bar.
The Pavilion of Knowledge – Ciência Viva is a kid friendly interactive science and technology museum, that aims to stimulate scientific knowledge and promote scientific culture among all of it’s visitors. The museum focuses on explaining the use and the impact of technology in our everyday life.
A trip between the river and the sky, the Telecabine Lisboa cable car offers sweeping views over Lisbon. Many tourists go up in the gondola style life over the water and the city to enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Head to the beach for some of europe best surfing or into the hills mountain biking in Sintra.
