Sputnik Spring Break 2019: Spring Break with a European Twist

Sputnik Spring Break is an annual three-day festival that takes place on the peninsula of Pouch in Muldestausee, Germany. The festival puts a European twist on the traditional spring break party culture and welcomes visitors from all over Germany and Europe each summer for the epic celebration. 

“It’s sunny, it’s windy, it’s loud and it’s dirty – but most of all, it’s BEAUTIFUL!” 

Sputnik Lineup 2019

This year’s edition of Sputnik Spring Break will welcome a variety of artists ranging from local talent to world-renowned DJ’s across five stages. The main stage will welcome the number one trance DJ in the world, Armin van Buuren, who will close out the main stage on day one of the event, alongside Ostblock-schlampen, Marteria & Casper, Kontra K and more. EDM favourite David Guetta and Don Diablo will close out the main stage on day two, alongside Gestört amber Geil, Alligatoah and more. The final day of main stage action will close out with Aussie musician Timmy Trumpet, followed by a special fireworks finale. More than 100 artists will come together across the remaining stages, featuring popular artists such as Borgore, Boys Noize, Neelix and more.

Sputnik Spring Break Festival takes place in Bitterfield in Muldestausee, Germany. You can find the event at Halbinsel Pouch, 06774 Pouch, Germany.

How to get around Muldestausee

The nearest major airport is located in the nearby city of Leipzig. Leipzig/Halle Airport is located approximately 40 minutes south of Muldestausee. From Leipzig, you can take the train directly to Bitterfeld Bahnhof. Travel time is approximately 40 minutes and fares start at around 30 euros. You can also find regional trains to Bitterfeld from most major cities around Leipzig, such as Berlin and Dresden. 

Official festival shuttle buses will transfer visitors from Bitterfeld Station to the festival grounds on Thursday and Friday, and back to the main station on Monday. Buses will depart on Thursday at 3:40 pm, 5:40 pm, 6:40 pm and 8:40 pm. On Friday, buses will depart at 1:50 pm, 2:50 pm, 3:50 pm, 5:50 pm and 6:50 pm. On Monday, shuttles will depart from the festival grounds to Bitterfeld station every hour from 8:10 am to 1:10 pm. Parking is also available on site for a one-time toll charge per vehicle. On the camping island, parking is 25 euros for cars and 35 euros for motorhomes, campers, caravans, etc. On the meadow in front of the entrance to the island, parking is 15 euros for cars and 25 euros for campers, caravans, trailers, etc. Parking is only permitted with a valid festival ticket. 

Where to stay for Sputnik Spring Break

Sputnik Spring Break features an official campground for visitors to get the full spring break experience. You can enter the campground from 10:00 am on Wednesday and can stay until Monday morning. Cars, trailers and campers are permitted on the campground; however, no additional facilities such as power and water connections will be available. The campground is fully equipped with sanitary facilities. You can use the toilets for 2 euros and showers for 4 euros, or purchase a flat rate band for 12 euros which gives you unlimited access to toilets and showers from Wednesday to Monday. This year, there will also be an official supermarket at Sputnik Spring Break. You can also find a local supermarket, 5 minutes from the campgrounds.

Things to do in Muldestausee

The city of Muldestausee offers a range of things to see and do. You can find a number of popular outdoor recreational areas and campgrounds such as Heidecamp Schlaitz and Tiergehege Greppin. You can also find a number of activities and sports venues in the nearby cities such as the WSC Friedersdorf arena, Mini Golf Bitterfeld and Skydive Leipzig. Nearby in Bitterfeld, you can also find popular museums Wasserwelt and the Kreismuseum.
