Springfest 2024 Theresienwiese, Bavariaring, 80336 München, Germany Munich Bavaria GermanySometimes known as Oktoberfest’s lesser-known but cooler younger sister, Springfest is all about authentic German beer, friendly locals and great vibes. It runs in spring and is basically Oktoberfest on a smaller and more intimate scale.
The festival is held in Munich, Bavaria. You can fly to Munich airport, one of the biggest in Europe, and it’s about forty minutes by public transport from the city centre. Munich is very well connected to the rest of Europe. So, if you’re from Austria, Switzerland, Italy or Hungary you can get a train to central Germany easy-peasy.
If you can’t give up your luxuries and don’t want to sleep in a tent with a bunch of boozed-up party-goers, there are other options like glamping, or you can opt to stay in a hostel or Airbnb close by. Live it up or down, it’s up to you! There are loads of Hotels and guest houses in Munich close to the Weisen to choose from.

The Locals
Oktoberfest rakes in about 7,200,000 visitors a year, mostly foreigners hoping to experience the best of German culture. Springfest still attracts a good number of festival-goers, but it’s a significantly smaller crowd, most of them being from Munich, Bavaria and other parts of Germany. This means more locals to party with and a more authentic vibe to the popular German festival.
German Beer…Duh
We all know that German beer is the best kind of beer. There’s no artificial flavours or sugars that make your hangover feel like death itself, although it is more potent, so make sure you can keep up.
Plus, you get to drink it out of a huge stein that is bigger than your face. And don’t forget that back at the campsite, instead of watching the cash in your wallet slowly deplete, you can drink yourself silly with Stoke’s unlimited beer and sangria…just saying.
The Food
We love a good stein as much as the next guy, but sooner or later you’ll smell the food stalls and will want a little something to tickle those tastebuds. We’re talking German beer drinking specialities like pork knuckle, roast chicken, pretzels and the basic chips and greasy goodness to line the stomach and send you into culinary heaven.
Get Silly
It’s a no brainer that people come to the mini Oktoberfest to drink authentic beer and look cool while doing it in their German get up.
Have fun trying all the different kinds of craft beers while dancing in the legendary beer tents. There’s not just beer to be had, an array of other alcohol is at your
Fairground Rides
Rides aren’t just for kids! Springfest is basically an adult playground with a humongous Ferris Wheel, inflatable fun houses and typical carnival thrill rides.
Have you ever seen a drunk person on a merry go round? it’s not a pretty sight. Do yourself a favour and steer clear from the spinning rides!
Live Music
The line-up will be announced closer to the festival, but you can expect traditional German tunes as well as a few well-known favourites. The beer tents will be filled with good music, fun vibes and a bunch or drunk people trying and failing to dance to the beat. Get amongst it!
A Parade
The parade kicks off the start of an amazing festival, with traditional clothing, folk dancing, and the brewery owned and decorated horse-drawn carts moving beer barrels to the festival grounds.
Finish it all off with a “Boellerschuetzen” where they shoot into the air with mini cannons. As you enter the beer tent for the first time, a live concert will welcome you and get you in the mood.
