Chicago’s hottest summer festival Spring Awakening is returning this June. The popular three-day event boasts over 100 local and international artists across five different stages. This year, Spring Awakening is moving to a new home in the historic Poplar Creek, located just over an hour from Chicago’s city centre. The brand new venue features 27 acres of land, making it almost double the size of previous editions.
“More than 100 artists will perform across five unique stages, demonstrating a dynamic variety of genres within the electronic music spectrum”.
This year’s edition boasts an extraordinary lineup filled with the biggest and best names in electronic dance music. The festival will be headlined by DJ Snake, Griz, Illenium, Martin Garrix, Rezz and Zedd. Other popular names include Alan Walker, Dillon Francis, Galantis, Oliver Heldens and Yellow Claw.

This year, Spring Awakening Music Festival has relocated to the historic Poplar Creek in Hoffman Estates. You can find the event at 5523 Prairie Stone Pkway, Hoffman Estates, IL, 60192.
There are two main airports in Chicago; O’Hare International Airport and Chicago Midway International Airport. O’Hare International Airport is significantly closer to the festival grounds if you are travelling directly to and from Hoffman Estates. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) operates the second largest public transport system in the nation.
A range of bus and rail services operate throughout Chicago’s city centre, as well as 40 neighbouring communities. Fares start at $2.50 for single bus rides and $3 for a single bus or rail trip with a disposable Ventra ticket. The Ventra Transit card is recommended for those frequently using public transport. You can purchase a one-day disposable Ventra Ticket for $10, which includes unlimited rides for 24 hours. A full fare reloadable Ventra Card is recommended for those travelling for longer than 24 hours and offer discounted fares.
The Metra commuter rail is a high-speed train service that connects the city to the outer suburbs and is a quick and easy way to travel around Chicago. Single trips start at $2.75 and ten ride passes are also available, starting at $27.50. Complimentary shuttles will be available from nearby Metra stations as well as all hotels located less than 10 minutes from the festival. The brand new venue will also allow festival parking on site for the first time its history.
There are a number of highly rated hotels located within proximity of the event. Recommended hotels include Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham, Hampton Inn & Suites, Hyatt Place, Hilton Garden Inn, Red Roof Plus+, Holiday Inn Elgin, Country Inn and Suites Elgin, Hampton Inn Elgin and Towneplace Suites Elgin/West Dundee. All recommended hotels are approximately a ten-minute drive from the festival gates. A number of Airbnb options are also available in the Hoffman Estates area. Martin Garrix – Three-time number one DJ in the world Martin Garrix is returning to the Spring Awakening main stage this summer. His unique signature sound and melodic beats have seen him top the charts time and time again, and is sure to close out the festival with a bang!
