Sonic Bloom 2019: The Premier Electronic Music Festival Of Colorado

Every year during the summer solstice, a lovely town in Colorado called Spanish Peak Country lights up with music, dance, and lots of love at Sonic Bloom. It’s one of the state’s longest-running festivals, and while there’s a huge focus on music, there are dozens of other reasons you should make the trip out for this event. Out-of-this-world art installations, fire spinners, flow artists, yoga classes, and fun, creative workshops are just a few of them. The bands start performing late in the afternoon, so during the day you’re free to go as crazy or chilled-out as you’d like. Just make sure you reserve your energy stores for dancing at night!

Wildlife all around you, crisp mountain air, summer weather, and your best friends with you. Does it get any better than that? Plus, unlike other music festivals, you’re encouraged to come as yourself. Eccentric, crazy, creative, free-spirited, and everything in between. This is why Sonic Bloom is one of the more laid-back festivals in the country, where the music is just as important as the vibe. Past events have featured Bonobo, Nightmares on Wax, EOTO, Shpongle, Dirtwire, and Toubab Krewe to name a few. The lineup for 2019 is sure to be bigger and even better!

Where to view Sonic Bloom 2019

Sonic Bloom’s home is the beautiful Hummingbird Ranch in Spanish Peaks Country, Colorado. The gorgeous venue is located within an estate filled with breathtaking views and shady trees, and it’s only a 2.5 hour drive from Denver. 

All ages are welcome at Sonic Bloom. There are four-day General Admission passes, VIP passes, and parking passes available. Kids below 17 years old should be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent. A discounted youth pass for those aged 13 to 16 will be available at the gate, and children 12 and below are free of charge. Gates will open at 2PM on the first day.

How to get around Colorado

Event organizers are providing shuttle bus services that will take passengers to and from Walsenburg. Back in Denver, there’s lots of efficient and well-connected forms of public transportation. The light rail transit system is the quickest way to get around.

Denver City also has rideshare services, bus, bicycle paths, pedi-cabs, and scooters. If you aren’t pressed for time, you’re encouraged to walk to your destination instead because Denver is one of the most beautiful cities to walk around in. 

Where to stay for Sonic Bloom 2019

A dedicated campsite and car camping area will be allocated for festival attendees. You’ll be required to show your ticket as you enter the campsite, so make sure to bring it along.

Campers will also need to bring their own camping gear, blankets, sleeping bags, and other essentials that you’ll need for a comfortable stay.

Things to do in Colorado

The Mile High City has a world-class music and nightlife scene. Finding live bands of various genres playing at any given night is easy. The city is also peppered with chic lounges and nightclubs. For your nature fix, head over to the Rocky Mountain National Park, the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, the Mesa Verde National Park, and the Browns Canyon National Monument.

If you have some time, make a day trip to nearby mountain towns for a cool escape: South Park, Vail, Salida, Aspen, Crested Butte, Durango, and Telluride are excellent destinations with lots to do.
