For checking out the rest of Chicago, public transit is the way to go. It’s cheap and efficient, with adequate stops to get to virtually any part of the city. Buses, cycling, taxis, and trains are also a great way of seeing the city. However, keep in mind that driving around in downtown Chicago isn’t recommended. Otherwise, you’ll have to deal with a lot of heavy traffic. Downtown Chicago is extremely walkable, with lots of stunning architecture and clean sidewalks. Check out the Chicago Pedway System, a well-connected underground and ground-level pedestrian system that connects most of the city’s popular areas.
