The event features a major Medallion Hunt, a local scavenger hunt that continues throughout the weekend with festivalgoers scouring the town in search of the Lumberjack Days Medallion in return for cash.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Lumberjack festival if there were no demonstrations and checked shirts! Learn about the community’s history in log cutting, running and rolling that has been bringing crowds back year after year since 1934. Guests can even take part in a Lumberjack Camp to try their hand at some of the classic lumberjack skills.

The festival includes some classic American events such as a Downhill Derby, a baseball exhibition, a lumberjack parade and a pancake breakfast and ice cream social. It also features some interesting alternatives for the more discerning festivalgoer such as Yoga in the Park, helicopter rides, a farmers’ market and a chef’s competition.
While the music isn’t the mainstay of the festival, each evening of the festival features 4-5 headline acts from Minneapolis and beyond.
The festival is held across various parks and gardens in the Le Croix Valley in Stillwater, Minnesota. Spend your time wandering along the Le Croix river attending free events in the Historic Court House, North Lowell Park, Riverside Park and the dedicated Lumberjack Demo Area.
The main festival parade and the Little Lumberjack Days parade make their way through the streets of Stillwater so check out the Lumberjack festival website for the parade route and grab yourself a good spot for watching the parade floats pass by.
The majority of the Lumberjack Days events can be accessed on foot with plenty of pedestrian paths winding their way along the river between event locations. Guests can reach Stillwater by car, bike, boat of public transport and more information can be found on the Directions/Parking section of the website.
If you are arriving in the state by plane, Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport is only 30 minutes away. Grab a taxi or a shuttle bus into downtown to find your accommodation and settle in before the festival fun begins.
Most festival attendees live in and around Stillwater and Minneapolis, Minnesota. For those venturing from further afield, fear not as Stillwater has a great range of hotels, guest houses and apartments like the Design Hotel Crosby or the restored Victorian mansion Rivertown Inn.
Some of these get booked up quite far in advance for the Lumberjack Days weekend so it is worth booking ahead.
Lumberjack Days is an amazing festival with events running all weekend to keep everyone in the family entertained. Start the weekend off with the Kick-Off Cruise on the Le Croix river, continue with kids’ inflatables, log rolling, bingo in the park and, of course, the Medallion Hunt.
Beer and street food vendors will be available throughout the weekend so you can graze on some delicious local delights. Finish each day with some lively local music and crash back at home or in your hotel before beginning it all again the next day!
