Joshua Tree Music Festival: A Family Friendly Global Musical Experience

Calling all nature-driven, environmentally sound music heads! The Joshua Tree Music Festival is the ideal musical gathering for those passionate about creativity, community empowerment as well as arts and education. Held in the Mojave desert for three days and four nights, this funkadelic festival one of North America’s greatest outdoor music festivals provides a family-friendly environment for all ages.

With a diverse music lineup including global-ethno melodies and elctro-groove soul, the JTMF represents a multicultural gathering unlike any other. Main acts include up-and-coming artists that deliver a positive and loving atmosphere which connects performers and festival goers on a spiritual level.

The best part is, its not all about the music! JTMF promotes each attendee’s personal growth through a variety of workshops including visual arts, yoga and myth. Additionally, the festival hosts dozens of family-friendly activities for all to participate. Art installations and flee market inspired stands promote social interaction and lifelong memories.

The Desert is Freedom, Music is Power, and Community is Crucial.”

Where to View the JTMF in Joshua Tree

The JTMF takes place at the Joshua Tree Lake Campground in Joshua Tree, California. Enjoy the festival by day then take in all the Southern Californian sky has to offer at night inside the astonishing National Park. The magical sweeping views will leave you speechless after a day filled with positive vibes and energy.

The venue is perfect for camping or RV parking for an all out music festival experience. Two main stages and a world market are set up within the campground. Additionally, the venue is accompanied by a one acre oval lake area. Surrounding the water are the festival’s very own art installations and family-friendly workshops.

How to Get Around Joshua Tree

Joshua Tree is a relatively remote area in Southern California considering its desert location. Your best bet for travel would be to rent a car or RV during the four day festival at a discounted rate. Public transportation is not available to the actual campsite unless you wanted to pay an arm and leg for a taxi ride out to the desert.

However, Joshua Tree is located 50 minutes from Palm Springs, 2.5 hours from Los Angeles, 3 hours from San Diego and 3.5 hours from Las Vegas. Most event goers are from California but those visiting from elsewhere usually take a week long trip to check out the rest of what So Cal has to offer.

Where to Stay in Joshua Tree

To get a true taste of the Joshua Tree Musical Festival, camping is a must. Space is on a first come, first serve basis and only RVs are allowed to make reservations. Campgrounds fill up quickly so it’s best to get comfortable with your fellow neighbors! Hot shower stations and wood fires are conveniently placed around the campground. Find the best fit for your party’s camping style and you will be sure to have a blast.

For those who want a more traditional housing experience make sure to check out Rad’s Travel Page as well as JTMF’s lodging page for additional options.
