What could be a more iconic backdrop for a legendary house and music festival than a historic fortress in Malta? That’s just part of what makes the Glitch Festival so special; it’s followed by mind-blowing boat parties with thousands of warm, fun-loving individuals. The festival makes for a truly enchanting, magical experience especially when you consider its unique location. The Gianpula Fields of Rabat in Mdina, Malta, are steeped in history and have a long, rich heritage. You’re encouraged to explore its enchanting cobblestone streets, ancient fortifications, and medieval architecture dating back 4,000 years.
Considering that the festival had its inaugural edition on 2016, it’s already quickly become Malta’s go-to house and techno event of the year, and is well on its way to becoming one of Europe’s biggest. In fact, the Glitch Festival was accidentally borne out of a controversy: during a rave, it was observed that a large flock of migrating Black Kite birds were disturbed by the loud music. The rave’s organizers spoke to lawyers, the cops, and the local government but, thankfully, everything ended on a positive note. That just goes to show that nothing brings people together better than music.
‘Glitch, one of 2 underground EDM festivals in Malta, combines the best of the local clubbing scene peppered with foreign influences.’
It’s a great opportunity to discover Maltese EDM talent, as well as listen to some renowned favorites as they play eargasmic dance tunes. Past editions have featured Ben Klock, Amelie Lens, Carl Craig, Dave Clarke, Jon Hopkins, Maceo Plex, Nina Kraviz, Jeff Mills, and Floorplan. 2019 only promises to get bigger and better, so stay tuned!

Malta is blessed with miles of golden, rocky beaches and natural swimming pools for lazing the day away soaking up the sun. Best of all, the beaches are all in close proximity. Cool down at St. Peter’s Pool, a natural swimming pool that has been formed over time in coastal rock. If beaches are more your cup of tea, check out Golden Bay, a popular beach frequented by locals. It’s also just a few steps away from the gorgeous Riviera Beach. Treat your senses to the Blue Lagoon, where you’ll find some of the Mediterranean’s clearest sparkling turquoise waters.
While you’re here, indulge in Maltese cuisine. Incredibly diverse thanks to centuries of various rulers, some hallmarks of traditional Maltese cuisine include rabbit stews, dorado, and Pastizzi.
Glitch Festival takes place next from August 14-16, 2019.
