Originating as a one-parade event in 1891, Fiesta San Antonio in Texas has grown into an 11-day long celebration of San Antonio’s rich and diverse culture. Evolving into one of the nations’ premier festivals, the event continues to honour the memories of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto.

All while raising funds to provide services to San Antonio’s citizens throughout the year. Each official event that takes place during the Fiesta is sponsored by a local nonprofit or military organisation.

Your experience at Fiesta San Antonio

The Fiesta features a wide range of events at various locations throughout the city of San Antonio. There’s a Fiesta for every age and occasion, from the pint-sized event Fiesta De Los Niños for children, all the way to the Senior Fiesta for senior community members aged 55 and older.

Live entertainment, special guest appearances, door prizes, vendors and more can all be found at various Fiesta events throughout the festival. You can witness a range of parades including the Fiesta Military Parade, Fiesta Especial 5K & Parade and The Texas Cavaliers River Parade. Adults only can enjoy the Fiesta Cornyation, an adult-oriented satirical and theatrical review of current local and international events.

Fiesta At Hemisfair – Officially kicking off 11 days of food, fashion, music, entertainment and more, the Fiesta At Hemisfair offers something for everyone; and is a must-do for new and returning visitors.

April 20 will welcome locals and visitors alike under the share of San Antonio’s skyline and offer live music, fiesta events, kid-friendly areas and a range of shopping opportunities. Explore locally made arts and crafts or taste culinary creations from local talents at the official kick off of Fiesta!

Fiesta Carnival – Make sure to check out one of the best carnivals in the land! Fiesta Carnival offers exciting rides and a wide range of food in the heart of San Antonio. The family-friendly event is hosted daily throughout the Fiesta and is open from 5-6pm until late on weekdays, and 11 am – midnight on weekends. Admission is free; however, wristbands can be purchased with revenue going towards supporting the activities of Fiesta San Antonio.

TASTE Of The Northside – San Antonio’s most exclusive Fiesta event offers a unique party with a purpose. TASTE of the North Side offers delicious cuisines from over 60 local restaurants, as well as endless varieties of wines and spirits. All-inclusive tickets can be purchased in advance for $85, with every dollar raised going directly to the Brighton Centre; ‘helping set a foundation for children with disabilities and delays, for a life without limits’.

Party with a purpose and head down to The Club at Sonterra for an evening of unforgettable delicacies; while supporting an incredible cause.

Things to do in San Antonio, Texas

The city of San Antonio offers a range of free attractions as well as ticketed venues. The San Antonio River walk features landscaped walkways and bridges along the river; and offers endless restaurant, bar, hotel and shopping options. Boat tours are also available along the river.

Other popular outdoor attractions include the San Antonio Botanical Garden, Japanese Tea Garden and Brackenridge Park; all of which offer scenic views with running trails, native plants, picnic areas and more. Popular amusement parks include SeaWorld San Antonio and Six Flags Fiesta Texas; offering a range of thrill rides, live shows, water parks and more.

San Antonio also offers a range of historical attractions such as the legendary fort and history museum The Alamo and 18th-century grounds at the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.

Where to stay in San Antonio

Fiesta San Antonio takes place in various locations and venues in and around the city of San Antonio. It is recommended for visitors to stay in the city centre and travel to and from venues via public transport. You can explore a range of nearby hotel and apartment options below.

How to get around 

The nearest major airport is San Antonio International Airport, located approximately 15 minutes from the city centre. Ten air carriers operate within the two terminals; AeroMexico, AirTran, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Delta, Interjet, Southwest, United, US Air and VivaAerobus.

VIA Metropolitan Transit is San Antonio’s public transport network and operates numerous bus routes throughout the city. Local bus fares are $1.30 and exact change is required; while express bus fares are $2.60. $2.75 can get you a full day pass which allows unlimited rides on all VIA buses. The three main routes that connect to major attractions are Route 11, Route 40 and Route 301.

Uber is the official ride of Fiesta San Antonio. The ride-share service can transport visitors to and from various events easily and safely. A range of pick up and drop off locations are available at each venue.
