2022 Winter Olympics: 92 Nations – One Goal, One Motto, One Place

The 2022 Winter Olympics, also known as XXIV Olympic Winter Games will be the 24th winter multi-sports event by IOC.

On July 31st, 2015 the 128th IOC session took place where Beijing was elected as the host city for winter games 2022. For the first time, China is going to host the Winter Olympics.

However, back in 2008 Beijing was the host city for the Summer Olympics and in 2022, Beijing will become the first city to host both summer and Winter Olympics. It will be consecutive fourth time that the Olympics are going to be held in East Asia.

Along with the new venues they are also planning to persist with some of the same venues used in 2008, whereas the Beijing National stadium will also be staged for the opening and closing ceremonies.

A few of the events will likely happen outside of the city, depending on the nature of the sports.

Bobsleigh, alpine skiing, and luge is going to be contested in Yanqing (Xiahaituo Mountain area) it’s just 56 miles northwest from the main Beijing city center.

What makes this particular venue fascinating is one fact: it doesn’t snow there!

“The Olympics grounds will be filled with artificial snow to recreate the same wintery scenic location in an astounding way.”

However, Chongli, Zhangjiakou is going to be the venue for skiing events.
