The festival also offers a unique and rich cultural experience, showcasing hundreds of Alaska native performers and artists, as well as more than 450 food and craft vendors.

The Alaska State Fair also features a concert series, powered by AT&T. Previous year’s concert series featured performances by Home Free, Shinedown, Dustin Lynch, Kansas, Tower of Power, Slightly Stoopid, Dropkick Murphys, Cole Swindell, Jeff Foxworthy and Elle King.
The Alaska State Fair takes place at the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer, Alaska. You can find the event at 2075 Glenn Hwy, Palmer, AK 99645, USA.
Located just outside Palmer, the Alaska State Fair is easily accessible by both car and public transport. The nearest airport is Palmer Municipal Airport, located less than 5 minutes from the city centre and 10 minutes from the fairgrounds.
The fairgrounds are approximately a 6-minute drive from the city centre, and taxi and rideshare options such as Uber and Lyft are readily available. Parking is available throughout the fairgrounds at designated lots and starts at $5 per day, per vehicle. You can also hop on the Alaska Railroad’s Fair Train for a stress-free and scenic ride to and from the event. The Valley Mover bus also offers bus services to and from the event.
The State Fair features a campground nestled in the Matanuska Valley. Located just outside of Anchorage, there is a secure space in a gated and fenced area; with 7 spaces available with electrical hookups and 8 spaces without. Free wi-fi is also available at the campgrounds and water and sewer hookups are not available. Spaces start at $30 per vehicle.
The city of Palmer is a small town nestled in the heart of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. It features a number of things to see and do throughout the city. One of Palmer’s main attractions is the Musk Ox Farm, a non-profit farm; featuring musk oxen, educational tours and a unique gift shop.
Throughout the city, you can also find a range of popular museums such as the Palmer Museum of History & Art and the Colony House Museum. Nearby, you can also find popular outdoor areas such as the Matanuska River Park and Matanuska Valley.
The State Fair will take place from August 16 – September 2, 2024.
