The event has grown to become one of the biggest Reggae, Dancehall and Hip-Hop festivals in Europe. For over 34 years, Summerjam Festival has welcomed the biggest and best artists in the local and international scene to celebrate a one-of-a-kind lifestyle. The festival takes place every year on the first weekend of July.

This year marks the 34th edition and a very special year for the event. UNESCO recently declared Reggae music as an immaterial World Cultural Heritage. What better way to celebrate it than at one of the biggest reggae events in the world! This year will showcase the talents of Buju Banton, Cypress Hill, Jimmy Cliff, Bonez MC & Raf Camora, Popcaan and more.

Germany has one of the most frequent and reliable public transport systems in Europe, making it easy to get around. The nearest airport is Cologne Bonn Airport, located approximately 15 minutes south-east of the city centre. Upon arrival, there are a number of direct train routes from the airport to Cologne Central Station. Throughout the city, frequent trains, trams and buses are available, making it quick and easy to get around.
There are a number of ways to travel to and from the event. Visitors can take the train from the central station to Fühlinger See. You can take the S-train S11 to ‘Chorweiler’, followed by bus 112 to ‘Seeberg’. During the festival, official shuttle bus services will be available to transfer visitors from the festival site to the city centre. Parking is also available at the central parking lot for visitors who are driving. Parking passes are 20 euros for a single entrance pass or 30 euros for a multiple entry parking pass.
Visitors with a three-day festival pass have access to the camping areas throughout the event. A number of campsites are available, including the green camp, comfort camp and Blackfoot Beach camp. There is also an exclusive area reserved for mobile homes, caravans and camper vans. All camping areas are fully equipped with basic sanitary facilities. Visitors can also purchase a ‘flatrate band’ for 5 euros for unlimited access to the flushable toilets.
You can also find a number of hotel and Airbnb options in the areas around the event, as well as in the city centre. A number of hotels are available nearby in the neighbourhood of Chorweiler, where festival shuttles can transfer you to and from the event. The Cologne Cathedral is one of the city’s most popular attractions. Located in the heart of the city, just outside the central station, the gothic cathedral showcases stunning architecture and features guided tours and a view of the Rhine River. Nearby is the Hohenzollern Bridge.
The rail and road bridge is one of the most famous bridges of Cologne and is the most heavily used railway bridge in Germany. It is also frequented by pedestrians who fix love locks onto the railings, which is considered one of Cologne’s most charming traditions. Other popular attractions include the Museum Ludwig, the Cologne Chocolate Museum and the Brühl Castle.
