Celebrating a new adventure at WiSH Outdoor

Memorial Day Weekend marks a special weekend in the Mexican festival calendar as WiSH Outdoor makes its return to the city of Monterrey. Celebrating its massive 5th anniversary in the heart of Northern Mexico, the Dutch festival brand brought a taste of Holland across the water for an epic celebration. Bringing a world-class lineup featuring the hottest EDM acts and everyone’s hardstyle favourites, WiSH Outdoor Mexico was definitely an adventure to remember!

The Stages

WiSH Outdoor Mexico features two stages,  spread out across Parque Fundidora in the heart of Monterrey, Mexico. The iconic main stage displayed an impressive wolf design, which complimented the event perfectly. The ‘dedicated’ hardstyle stage definitely received an upgrade this year, expanding to more than twice the size of last year’s; and had the crowd to match! Although only having two stages, I still found myself with many timetable clashes because of how stacked the lineup was! I definitely found myself running back and forth throughout the day, trying to catch the best of the biggest names.

Main Stage

Kicking off the festivities early, Amusai opened up the stage; followed by Mattn who got the party going with a diverse tracklist. Dutch duo Lucas & Steve were next up with an energetic performance filled with popular house tracks; before local hero and one of the hottest acts in Mexico, Mariana Bo performed a special birthday set. Special guest David Guetta surprised fans with a unique sunset performance before LNY TNZ brought the harder styles to the main stage for their final performance together. Next up was Slushii, who brought a taste of Los Angeles to Monterrey, before Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike created a tremor in Parque Fundidora with their ground shaking tracks. Finally, Marshmello closed out the main stage before a specially curated closing show filled the entire sky with fireworks to the beat of everyone’s hardstyle favourites; as well as this year’s WiSH Outdoor Worldwide Anthem.

The Harder Styles

Any festival with a dedicated harder styles stage already has me sold and this year’s lineup was to die for! The stage opened up with X-Traikerz and Noise Dimentionz, before having the two team up for an exclusive back to back set. Dutch DJ D-Sturb took to the stage to get the party going before Norwegian duo Da Tweekaz performed their iconic and energetic set in front of a full house. Following the madness was Dutch prodigy Phuture Noize, who took the Mexican crowd on a unique journey of raw emotion and energy. Next up was D-Block & S-te-Fan, who brought a taste of their Ghost Stories show to the stage, before Frequencerz and Brennan Heart closed out the event.

Stand Out Performances

This year, two performances stood out to me the most. The first was, of course, my favourites: Da Tweekaz. Bringing the party with them wherever they go, these guys are the only DJs I know that can fill out an entire stage within seconds! Playing everyone’s favourites including the crowd controlling ‘Tequila’, as well as a tonne of new music, these guys always put on an unforgettable performance.

The second was LNY TNZ, who performed their final show together at WiSH Outdoor Mexico. After the recent announcement that Mitchell Vreeswijk was departing from the group at the end of the month, the duo played a memorable final performance on the main stage. The genre-defying pair showcased their signature sound which combines trap, bass, EDM, hardstyle and more. They even brought out special guests Da Tweekaz onto the main stage, to debut their brand new track together in front of the Mexican crowd.

Final Thoughts

The 5th-anniversary edition of WiSH Outdoor Mexico definitely blew me away. After attending the previous edition last year, the festival has grown tremendously in such a short amount of time! This year’s lineup absolutely blew me out of the water and made it so incredibly hard to choose who to see! The organisation has improved significantly from last year’s edition and overall, the festival is slowly but surely resembling the original edition in the Netherlands. Combined with the crazy Mexican crowd, WiSH Outdoor has definitely found the perfect second home in the heart of Monterrey and I will definitely be back!
