The Uganda Marathon 2024: A Race Like No Other

Embark on a journey to East Africa that combines the love of running with mankind’s generosity. Named as one of the Six Must-Do Marathons in Africa the Uganda Marathon offers athletes the fulfillment of completing a demanding race as well as the emphatic feeling of giving back to the community.

The event is dubbed “A Race Like No Other” for its ability to connect with the people, the land and the country itself.

“Although the Uganda Marathon is only in its fourth year of existence, its enormous impact lives on through athletes who truly run for a purpose.”

Your experience at the Uganda Marathon

One of the most rewarding parts of the marathon happens during the running itself. As you trudge along the dirt road trails, the same local children that were positively affected by your actions earlier in the week are now cheering you on for the entire race.

Uganda Marathon 2024 Event Schedule

From May 26 – June 2, 2024 participants will undergo a life-changing experience in the rural land where the sport of running was born.

Day 1 & 2:

Take your time to arrive, settle in and explore the area.

Day 3 & 4:

The first two days of the event allow you to really make their mark in the community. Meet local children and families through interactive volunteer programs, get a first-hand look on the impact you will make in the lives of the disadvantaged.

Day 5:

Day five is dedicated to the children of Uganda where the annual KidsRunWild sports day is held. Masaka schools and orphanages pair up youngsters with marathon athletes to get a taste of what it’s like to cross the finish line.

Day 6:

A hotel pool party followed by a giant pasta party concludes the night before race day!

Day 7:

On the seventh day, runners will take to the starting line. Over 3,000 worldwide athletes compete in either the full or half marathon on a course that weaves through spectacular views of the beautiful African countryside. Along the way, runners will travel through farms, villages and towns around Masaka before conquering the notorious hill named “The Beast.”

If you reach the top, an astounding view of Lake Victoria awaits.

Day 8:

It’s time to say “See you soon”.

Family and friends who won’t be competing in the marathon will have just as much fun as the runners. Plenty of volunteer options await for those who would like to help.

Get hands-on with charity groups, record results at the finish line, or man the water stations throughout the course. If you would like to just spectate, organized bicycle trips are conducted in groups to follow athletes on the course.
