But even without private transportation, you’ll be glad to know that Monterrey’s metered taxi services are affordable and convenient; it makes an excellent alternative to transportation without breaking the bank. You may also want to check out the two-line metro system which can efficiently take you to several destinations within the city.

The beautiful cosmopolitan city of Monterrey is the third largest city in Mexico. It has both a vibrant cultural scene and a fun, laid-back hipster lifestyle that you’ll love. Monterrey’s nightlife is world-class, and with the last call being 4AM, there’s lots of time to make new friends and memories after the festival. The best bars and clubs here are found in Barrio Antiguo, or the Old District; this is where you’ll find charming bohemian watering holes with live music. Another excellent destination for nightlife is the San Pedro Garza Garcia area.
Monterrey is one of Mexico’s wealthiest and most industrialized cities, but the best part about it is that it hasn’t lost its Spanish flavor. Find it among the narrow alleys, lovely patios, and 16th century houses. Immerse in the culture by visiting the many galleries and museums, or unwind at one of the picturesque public parks. The Museum of Contemporary Art at the Gran Plaza is not to be missed; this is the best place to learn about authentic Mexican art. For a taste of the outdoors, take the short drive to Garcia, where you’ll find the majestic Garcia Caves, a major cave system of Mexico. Spend the day exploring the Cumbres de Monterrey National Park, a great day away from the urbanized city.
