Now in its 6th year, Southern Soul is a four-day journey of music, dance, sea and sun on the stunningly beautiful and sun-kissed coast of Montenegro.

This boutique festival provides musical offerings including over 40 of the very best underground names representing a plethora of genres including soul, jazz, funk, house and disco for more that 70 hours across 3 stages.

A festival with a conscience, Southern Soul is also committed to producing an event which is environmentally responsible. Banning the use of plastic bags, reducing the distribution of leaflets and raising awareness about reducing festival goers carbon footprint through the use of public transport are just some of the ways the organisers are aiming to minimize the event’s environmental impact.

Southern Soul takes place in the Dolcinium Kite Club on Copacabana Beach which is part of the outstanding sandy beach of the Velika Plaza just next to the medieval city of Ulcinj.

How to get around

By Air

With Podgorica, Tivat and Dubrovnik international Airports all well within 3 hours of Ulcinj, a wide range of airlines to choose from and airport transfers available from each, flying to Southern Soul is a hassle-free way to reach the festival.

By Road

Driving is arguably the perfect way to experience the Balkan countryside with car rentals being pretty affordable and the Croatian Highway being so close to the Montenegrin coastline.

An even more affordable option by road would be to takin in the striking scenery would be by the local bus network.

By Boat

By Sea – From May to September, ferry-boat companies sail 3 main routes to Montenegro. Stopping at the port city of Bar, a 20km bus journey makes this a comfortable and easy option.

Southern Town/Soul Town – With air conditioning, wi-fi and a kitchen, you’ll have all you need only 700m from the festival site in this small compound of bijou houses while rubbing shoulders with the artists you came to see.

Camping – If sleeping beneath the stars surrounded by Mediterranean nature is your thing, then camping is the best option. Again, only 700m from all the action, the campsite is the ideal location for taking rest from the southern soul nights,

Things to do in Ulcinj, Montenegro

As well as incredible music and sun soaked scenery, there are a range of exciting outdoor activities to enjoy. Ada Bojana is one of the premier kitesurfing and windsurfing locations on the Adriatic Coast thanks to the strong cross onshore winds during summer afternoons. Horse riding is also a popular activity and being on the Mediterranean coast of course means that you get the sample fresh seafood at one of the many traditional seafood restaurants.
