Located on the banks of the Salmo River near Nelson, British Colombia, Canada Shambhala Music Festival is a wild, welcoming, corporation-free festival that celebrates music, art, energy and spirit. Beginning as a commemoration of local music festival and art, Shambhala has grown over the past 20 years into a much-loved event for electro-enthusiasts while remaining close to its roots in terms of its eco-ethos.
The family-run Salmo River Ranch is completely transformed from an off-grid farm to a Shambhalove community for five days every August. The family and their team of volunteers and event staff safely create a haven for festivalgoers to dance their hearts out while ensuring the land and wildlife remains intact and healthy for continued use after the event.
The six stages of Shambhala 2019 are each curated by a separate Stage Director who puts their heart and soul into creating a world where electronic music can be celebrated. Each stage has its own vibe with crazy decorations, lighting, sound and unique line-ups so you can find your home for the weekend or float freely between stages.
Shambhala 2019 is a corporation-free-zone allowing the organisers to include whichever performers and vendors they like without being ‘watered down’ by corporate pressure. This means you can expect high-quality farm-to-table food, craft beverages, hand-crafted goods and accessories and free-flowing, fresh mountain water at absolutely no cost!
‘Fancy dress is highly encouraged with the more colour and texture the better! Bring your best festival attire or head to one of the artisan outlets to find a new festival favourite accessory.’
