Rockfest 2023: Finland’s Biggest Rock Festival

Rockfest is Finland’s annual rock festival and the largest event of it’s kind in the country. The three-day event annually welcomes thousands of rock and heavy metal lovers to Finland’s Hyvinkää Airfield.

Where is Rockfest

Rockfest takes place at the Hyvinkää Airfield in Hyvinkää, Finland. You can find the event at 05820 Hyvinkää, Finland. 

How to get around Hyvinkää

The nearest major airport is Helsinki airport, located approximately 40 minutes south of the event. Car rental options are available at the airport and renting a car is recommended in order to get to and around the area. Parking is available on site and tickets must be purchased in advance and presented on arrival.

The quickest and easiest way to travel to the event via public transport is by bus. A direct bus travels between Helsinki-Vantaan lentoasema, Terminaali 2 and Hyvinkää liittymä P every hour.

Shuttle buses run continuously throughout the festival between the festival area and centre of Hyvinkää. Charted buses are also available through Korsisaari and travel from nearby cities such as Turku, Tampere, Kotka, Lahti and more. 20 passengers are needed in order for the journey.

Where to stay in Hyvinkää

There are a number of camping options available onsite at Rockfest ranging from tent spots to bungalows and RV spots. Basic tent spots are available for 49 euros and tents must be 4x4m or less. Priority tents are also available for 99 euros and come with a pre-pitched tent for two, but can fit up to four people. Kartents are also available for 199 euros.

The unique cardboard tents can be found and most major European festivals and is a popular environmentally friendly option. The tents are built and ready to use, waterproof and remain dark and cool in the morning. Bungalows are available for 299 euros and include air mattresses and electricity. Finally, RV spots are available for 65 euros and include electricity. All camping area tickets must be purchased in addition to a festival ticket.

There are also a number of non-camping options available. The city centre features two hotels: Piazza and Scandic Hyvinkää. You can also find more hotel options and apartments in the outer area of the city. You can explore a range of nearby options on the map below.

Things to do in Hyvinkää

The small Finnish town of Hyvinkää offers a number of attractions. The Finnish Railway Museum showcases a 19th-century station and engine shed with a rolling stock collection and more.

The Hyvinkää Church is a popular modernist church and a stunning architectural structure.

The town also offers a number of picturesque outdoor parks, lakes and nature preserves. Popular locations include Kerevanjärvi, Kytäjä-Usmin ulkoilualue, Hirvijärvi and Sääksjärvi.
