Riverside Festival: Glasgow’s Hottest Electronic Music Festival

With DJs and electric artists galore, Glasgow’s Riverside Festival is one of the UK’s biggest and best electro festivals. A must on anyone’s electro calendar, Riverside heats up on the banks of the Clyde in the grounds of Glasgow’s Riverside Museum.

Riverside Festival takes place on the last May Bank Holiday weekend meaning everyone can go crazy and party like they’re not going to work on Monday (because they aren’t!!).

Thousands gather to revel in the heat, dancing the night away to their favourite electro artists. Riverside is committed to showcasing both celebrated and unknown acts so that you can party along to the tunes you love as well as finding new favourites.

Riverside has played host to much-loved DJs such as Fatboy Slim, Groove Armada and DJ Koze and the 2019 (although not yet released) is sure to impress.

Where to view Riverside Festival 

Riverside Festival is located on the banks of the River Clyde in the grounds of the Riverside Museum. The gorgeous riverside location transforms to include a huge stage and a number of vendors scattered around the site serving up food, drinks and merch to offer you everything you need throughout the festival.

Get there early if you want to be at the front of the festival with the hottest electro artists almost within arm’s reach!

It is recommended you arrive around an hour before the beginning of the festival so you can get through security gates and bag checks before the event begins.

Exit and re-entry is not permitted so ensure you have everything with you before entering the site.

How to get around Glasgow

The Riverside Festival is easily reached by public transport from both in and around Glasgow. Partick Station is the closest train station (around 5 minutes from the museum). Both Glasgow Central and Queen Street stations connect directly to Partick Station. Alternatively, you can grab a taxi to take you to Partick Station of the Riverside Museum.

Glasgow Central Station has great public transport links with direct trains from all major UK cities.

You can also drive to the city (approximately 60 mins’ drive from Edinburgh, 140 mins from Aberdeen and 160 mins from Inverness).

Where to stay in Glasgow for Riverside

The majority of accommodation lies within Glasgow Central although there may be some hotels and Airbnb’s located in and around Partick itself. It is possible to stay in Edinburgh and connect with Glasgow for the Riverside Festival but it may be a bit of a pain getting back after the festival.

Riverside Festival itself is all about the music but if you want to extend your trip to the city there are a number of great bars, restaurants, sights and museums to keep you entertained.
