Held in January the “Rainbow Serpent Festival is an electronic music festival like no other , combining music, art, performance, spiritual education, aboriginal culture, relaxation and healing held over three days in Western Victoria.
Top Dj’s and live acts take to multiple stages hailing from the UK, Asia, Europe, America and Australia. Enjoy the Main Stage, Market Stage and Sunset Stage as well The Playground for dancing. The Chill Stage is for blissing out on comfy couches while watching the golden sunset.
Colours dance around the festival by way of art installations of coloured glass and streamers form awe inspiring sculptural works and dynamic visual design for all to enjoy. Catch a glimpse into the minds of these talented artists by taking part in special live painting and performance events in the “Evolve Gallery.”
There is an “Aboriginal Camp” showcasing the dreamtime culture through arts and music. “The Village” offers Yoga, Dance, Sacred Sound and Massage and Healing. The “Lotus Temple” offers bodywork classes, martial arts, ceremony, movement and meditation. There is a Kids Space, Solar Cinema and Permaculture Garden so that you can get your hands dirty. There is also the “Baazar” with gourmet food and market stalls.

Lexton is a small town of just 265 people that is 2 hour drive from Melbourne. To get there drive 30 minutes past Ballarat on the Western Highway and then turn right over the train tracks to head to Lexton. You can take a chartered bus to the festival. There is no access to the festival site until after Midday on Thursday.
By car is the best way, or by the chartered bus. Everything for the festival is available on site, including accomodation and food. There is also a train and shuttle service available to and from the festival.
There is a designated Family Camping Ground that includes toilets and showers, shaded communal area with tables, chairs, couches, lighting, carpet and 240v power. It’s situated near the Kids Village section of the festival for easy access.
Sleepy Hollow accomodation offers luxury bell tents and Tipis as well as prime campsites with easy access to the main stages. The area includes ambient lighting, shaded chill areas, showers and toilets and complimentary fruit and water.
Ranbow Rangers patrol all campsites.
The gold rush town of Ballarat is nearby and worth exploring if theres a free moment. There are many places to vsiit in the historic town, including Sovreign Hill, Eureka Stockade exhibits, fresh local produce to sample, theatre shows, and historic tram around Lake Wendoree.
