Positivus Festival 2019 is one of the biggest music and arts festivals in the Baltics

Listen to live acts on the beach and in the sandy dunes of Latvia. One weekend to savour big music acts, stand up comedy and emerging artists in an idyllic coastal region. Positivus is an annual three-day music festival taking place in Salacgrīva in Latvia. Visitors enjoy a wide array of amazing performers, immense entertainment options and a lively atmosphere, creating an unforgettable music experience in the Baltics.

UK electronic music artists Years & Years are added to such rising music stars as Youngr, Jeremy Loops and Marlon Williams who will also perform at the festival. Last years’ headliners included Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Prodigy, Tove Lo and many more. The beautiful coastal region is a drawcard for these big acts as well as party goers. 2019 will be the 13th year and set to feature some banging acts.

A chance to discover and purchase original designs of apparel, shoes and various accessories, the festival market features a wide range of items from contemporary and vintage, traditional and untamed, to true elegance and funky ethno simplicity.

Apart from an exciting music experience, the festival goers also have the opportunity to participate in and enjoy various activities throughout the festival. Take a break between the concerts by heading to the Positivus “main street” and enjoy the fun.

While parents enjoy the festival, kids together with dwarfs, fairies and Indians will have a chance to play games, participate in sport activities and have adventures that develop their intelligence in “Kids Island” that has been developed especially for the youngest festival visitors.

The “Fresh Garden” is a quiet oasis catering to the needs of vegetarians, vegans and raw foodists alike. Delicious and mouth watering food is also be sold from food trailers and food vans scattered throughout the festival site.

Where does Positvus Festival 2019 take place?

Positivus Festival takes place in Salacgriva’s Fisherman’s park. The centre of the area surrounding Salacgriva is the mouth of Salaca River, and it is located 103km from the main town of Riga.

How to get to Salacgrīva

There is a Positivus Festival shuttle bus direct to the festival from Riga. Taxify taxi service ensure rides both to and from the festival, as well as on-site.

Car hire and 4WD hire and ridesharing options are available from Riga and there is a parking lot for vehicles that enter the festival.

Where to stay for Positivus Festival 2019

The Positivus Festival camping site is free! There is a small fee for showers on the site. Visitors are permitted to bring their own food and drink into the grounds. There are storage options and possibility to charge your phone. Food vendors will take care of the hungry festival-goers and provide delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner.

There are luxury VIP tents on offer for up to 6 guests with all amenities included. Local hotels and hostels are available around Salacgrīva as it is a coastal region and attracts many tourists.

The guest house “Kapteinu Osta” provides beachfront accommodation on the Baltic Sea. The resort offers an array of activities from horse riding to fishing.

Things to do in Salacgrīva

The Vidzeme Rocky Seashore, halfway between Salacgrīva and Saulkrasti, is a scenic spot to stretch your legs. The 14km stretch of protected parkland has rippled sands undulating between tiny capes and caverns. The highlight is the Veczemju Red Cliffs, a sandstone outcropping crinkled by jagged grottoes.

Žvejnieku Sēta is a friendly seafood restaurant with a pleasing, old-time nautical vibe complete with creaky wood floors, a fishing boat moored outside and nets draped across the terrace.
