The two-day event has secured a spot in one of the best music festivals in the hardcore, punk, metalcore and rock scene. Open Air Granichen is also a non-for profit organisation, with more than 450 volunteers coming together annually to bring the festival to life. Welcoming more than 5000 fans from all over Switzerland and abroad each year, the event celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2019.

This year, the festival welcomes more than 25 artists across the two-day event. Siberian Meat Grinder, Intervals and Enter Shikari will headline day one; alongside the likes of Sick Of It All, After The Burial, Promethee and more. Day two will see Skindred, Unhold and Thy Art is Murder close out the event. Popular acts such as Hellvetica and Crystal Lake will also share the stage.

The municipality of Granichen is located just outside Zurich. The nearest airport is Zurich Airport, approximately 40 minutes east of the city. Upon arrival in Zurich, the city is easily accessible by both car and public transport.
It is recommended to travel to the festival by public transport. Visitors can take the train from Aarau train station to ‘Gränichen Oberdorf’, with a travel time of around 12 minutes. The festival offers free shuttle buses for the return journey after midnight, which will travel directly to Aarau.
Camping is available at the festival is access to the campsite is free with a valid festival ticket. Visitors with campers and caravans are also able to camp on site, with a specially designated campground available. The town of Aarau also features a range of accommodation options such as hotels and Airbnbs. It is recommended to stay within the vicinity of the main train station, for quick and easy access to transport to and from the event. Granichen features a range of activities and attractions. One of the most popular destinations is the Liebegg Castle, a historical medieval site located just outside Aarau. Nearby, you can also find Trostburg Castle.
Another frequented place is the Hexenmuseum Schweiz, a popular museum showcasing a collection of witchcraft memorabilia. Other popular attractions include the Reformierte Kirche Seon, an evangelical church and the Museum Suhr.
