Motion Notion: A Surreal Audio Visual Experience In BC

If there’s anyone who knows how to combine music and the outdoors, it’s the Canadians. Motion Notion is the perfect testament to this, a magical journey where both the fantastic EDM and the surreal landscapes take center stage. This insanely fun multi-day festival will include on-site camping, a variety of awesome workshops and yoga classes, plus fantastic vendors for a one-of-a-kind outdoor EDM fest. Set in a location framed by the majestic rockies and lush pine trees, Motion Notion a unique transformative journey using the tools of the arts and nature.

Impressive performers of all kinds take care of the awe-inspiring entertainment in between sets. There will be belly dancers, fire dancers, aerialists, contortionists, flaggers, live painters, and much more. Golf carts and cars will also be turned into incredible Art Cars.

Acts like Avalon, Neon, Birds of Paradise, Danny Byrd, Akasha Experience and other big names in EDM have played in previous Motion Notion festivals. This year, Defunk, perfect Stranger, Psymbionic, and more will tickle your eardrums with live EDM in one of the most stunning festival locations in North America.

A vendor village filled with dozens of stalls selling all kinds of healthy and delicious fare will be available – there’s no need to bring your own food. Other facilities will include clean porta-potties, hot water showers for a small feel, electrical plug-ins, battery recharging and ATM stations, and free water.

Where to view Motion Notion

Motion Notion will be held in the strikingly scenic Canadian Cascade mountain range, located near Merritt, BC. A variety of ticket passes are available. Secure your festival tickets ahead of time because security will be strict, and there will be a no-tolerance rule for trespassers.

How to get around Merritt, BC

The festival grounds will have ample parking, but once you’re there, there will be no need to use motorized transportation to get around. The stages and campsites are all very close to one another, in one compact area that is closed to outsiders and trespassers.

Downtown Merritt is very organized, and compact enough to get around by foot. You can reach almost any part of the city within an hour max just by walking. If you’d like to make the most out of exploring Merritt, a bicycle or a car rental is recommended.

Where to stay in Merritt

Camping is part of the Motion Notion experience. Event organizers are offering glamping options, but otherwise you’ll have to bring your own tent and camping equipment. There are several hotels located in downtown Merritt that make a good base for exploring the rest of the city after the festival.

Things to do in Merritt

The sheer number of natural wonders in Merritt will captivate any outdoor lover. Mountain biking, trail hiking, and fishing are popular outdoor activities here. During the summer Nicola Lake is filled with motorboats, windsurfers, and sailboats. It’s also a terrific place to relax. Check out the other beautiful campsites such as Monck Park.

Merritt has a sprinkling of low-key but fun bars, pubs, and restaurants downtown.
