Minnesota State Fair 2024: Minnesota’s Greatest Summer Festival 

There’s much more to the Land of 10,000 Lakes than lakes… and one of them is the Minnesota State Fair. Each summer, almost 2 million locals and visitors attend the fair, a tradition that started in 1854 with the purpose of promoting farming and agriculture.

The rest is history, and today there are over 900 free mind-blowing performances, 500 delicious eats, and 30 thrilling carnival rides for kids and adults within 12 days for you to enjoy. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg!

This annual tradition only continues to grow in size, attracting more people each year to come and experience a whole spectrum of fun activities. It boasts of having the biggest traveling attraction in North America, an insane Giant Slide, 80’s music that will get your feet dancing, and lots of beautiful art on display. Catch the daily parade each afternoon at 2PM, and see one of the famous shows that take place at the Grandstand.

Where is the Minnesota State Fair?

The state fairgrounds are located at 1265 Snelling Ave. N., St. Paul, Minnesota. Check the updated festival map for your favorite stalls and vendors.

How to get around Minnesota

The fairgrounds are located in the streets in and around Snelling Avenue, most of which will be closed off to traffic for the duration of the fair. The most efficient way to get around will be on foot, so time to get walking – it’s a great way to burn off all the calories from the food, anyway.

Alternatively, Minnesota’s public transportation systems make it easy to get to other points within town. The Light Rail Transit (LRT) takes you to 17 stops, but the Amtrak Empire Boulder Route takes you to some of the best sights in Minnesota. Alternatively, there are bus services, taxis, limousines, van and motor coach rentals as well.

Minnesota may be known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, but in reality, there are 11,842 of them. You won’t have time to see them all, but it’s definitely recommended to see at least a few by chilling out at some lakeside resorts.

Outdoor enthusiasts may be overwhelmed with the sheer variety of choices to enjoy outside, especially at the gorgeous Twin Lakes.
