Mauna to Mauna Ultra 2022: the multi-day race in Hawaii

The organizers of the Mauna to Mauna Ultra have now come up with a newly added racecourse in the 2022 edition of the event. It’s time to physically and mentally prepare yourself for an adventure that is as thrilling as it is hardcore. You will face a unique track course on an island with active volcanoes and extreme weather conditions while running in the dark forest, across traverse lava flows and coastal beach trails. 

Mauna Ultra is a 6 stage and 7-day marathon and it will take place across 155 miles of an ecological paradise. The place is considered among the world’s top remotest locations and provides participants the opportunity to witness the unique flora and fauna of the island.

Your experience 

It is a lifetime experience for participants to get to know the rich Hawaiian culture and history.

The route map of the race starts from the east side of Hawaii Island going all the way across the west side of the island. Participants will ascend the largest mountain in the world named as Mauna Loa and will cross the 14,000m tallest mountain of Mauna Kea.

Remember, bring your own food, clothes, sleeping bags, accessories, and safety gear during the race as it is a self-supported marathon. The organizers will provide water at every checkpoint, in addition to electrolyte pills, and communal tents.

Pay a deposit of US$1,000. The organizers have some discount policies which you can check out on their website.

Things to do in Kailua Kona

Visit the beautiful beaches of Kailua-Kona. It is an excellent place to relax sunbathe as these beaches are less crowded. You can also give snorkeling a try while you’re there. It will be a great experience to explore underwater creatures like exotic tropical fish, rays, turtles, and eels.
