Lexington BBQ Festival: The Most Delicious Food Festival In North Carolina

What better way to experience the Barbecue Capital of the World than to attend the Lexington BBQ Festival? Each year, this exciting food event attracts over 150,000 visitors to Lexington to feast on the best, juiciest, and most flavorful barbecue sold in dozens of stalls and restaurants.

Over 11,000 pounds of meat will be barbecued for your delight at the Barbecue Festival, which has been listed as one of the 1,000 Places to See in the USA and Canada Before You Die. The slow-cooked pork will be barbecued in a variety of ways over coals, and will be served up sliced, pulled, and chopped in the most delicious ways possible while staying true to the authentic Lexington traditions of honoring the pig. The world-famous Lexington barbecue is typically made by barbecuing pork shoulder in a seasoned vinegar-based sauce, and served with red slaw. When you’re done eating your weight’s worth in barbecue, check out the other exciting attractions during the festival. Join the Hawg Run 5K fun run in the morning, and a non-competitive walk is also open for all ages. The Hogway Speedway takes place in the morning, featuring adorable racing pigs.

The Festival Chop Shop Lumberjack Sports Show will be held in the afternoon, where participants compete by chopping and sawing their way through timber.

Other thrilling events to look forward to include the BMX Stunt Shows, and the Purina Incredible Dog Team Shows. Throughout the day, talented live performers will be serenading visitors for an extra dose of good times. When the festivities are over, kick back at the Wine Garden and have a good time with friends and family, or shop till you drop at the markets.

The Barbecue Festival will have barbecue tents from 8:30AM to 6PM in these locations: West Center Street, North Main Street, and South Main and 3rd Avenue. Admission is free for all.

How to get around Lexington

There will be an affordable, paid shuttle service from 8AM to 6PM at the Lexington Walmart Supercenter, located at 160 Lowes Boulevard. Another shuttle will service the Childress Vineyards route, and will take visitors to the festival grounds, dropping off passengers at South Main Street and 5th Avenue.

Attendees bringing vehicles may park at Uptown Lexington in designated private parking lots.
