Their motto is “Lake all day, Jam all night!” This festival is the best for those who want to experience the great outdoors in summer, and spend their time watching great artists rock out on the main stage. The second stage for the festival offers local and new artists a chance to play to a big crowd, too!
Featuring great bands and acts from all over, the festival this year welcomes Kip Moore, LOCASH, Brantley Gilbert, and Led Zeppelin! There are so many great bands from the country and rock scenes that it would be impossible to list them all here. Just check out the changing lineup on their website for the most up to date info.
The best part about the Lake Jams festival is that people are able to spend time out on the lakes before or even during the concerts. It’s the summer solstice, too, so the days will be long and bright. Bottoms up, everybody!
There will be two main stages as well as many sideshow areas. The complex arises every summer next to the Brainerd International Raceway. You’ll be able to spot the place from space! In the festival this year, a roaring competition will take place Friday and Saturday in the camping zone with the Watercross event.
‘Lakes Jam has rocked the lakes since 2012 and builds a great community each summer.’
Crazy people who have a need for speed will race their snowmobiles across open water while crowds cheer them on. A souped-up mower contest is on for the entertainment of everyone in the area, too.
Besides these activities, you can rent boats or bring your own to float all day on the lakes.
Let’s be honest, you should probably bring a truck. The site is accessible to all vehicles, but after a couple of days it may get muddy and the adventure of driving around will be a little tougher.
Shuttles will run from all the major hotels to the site if you are not camping, and they are free with the purchase of the festival ticket. You can check the schedule and which hotels are included here.
Public transport is not easy to get in the area, so you may want to budget for Uber or Lyft rides if you plan not to bring a car.
Arrowwood Lodge of Brainerd Lakes and the Rapid River Lodge and WaterPark are both on the free shuttle route and great options for your stay. One has an in-house water park! It would be great for those who have younger children and makes a lovely place for a family getaway for the music fest.
The core of the Lakes Jam festival is camping. You just have to experience the camp in order to understand the festival, and there are so many events in the camp that you’ll want to stay there. All facilities for showering and needs are provided and maintained by Lakes Jam. The camping space is limited, so sign up now for the choice spots. An extra bonus is that the campsite holds a decoration contest. Even if you don’t deck out your rig, this is a chance to gawp at the amazing decorations of others!
Honestly, the jam is a city unto itself during Lakes Jam. You can sample foods from all over, try out new games with your camping neighbours, or drift on a boat all day. The whole idea is to get away for a while, so build your campfire and bring your ATV for some outdoor time.
The closest city is Brainerd, MN. It’s a small place with the supplies you’ll need, but not many attractions outside the venue for Lakes Jam itself.
Lakes Jam is held on June 27-29 2019.
