Fes Festival 2024: World Sacred Music

The “Fes Festival” as it is lovingly called, is a ten-day spiritual celebration dedicated to bringing humans together through music considered one of the best things to do in Morocco. It is a combination of concerts, workshops and discussions on climate change, human and civil rights, social justice and other important issues. The Fes Festival in Morocco is an incredible life experience that brings together “high art, popular entertainment, spiritual energy and intellectual challenges.”

You don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to experience the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music. The world needs more connection and this festival is bringing people together to celebrate each other.

“Each year the Fes Festival celebrates artists from Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Hindu and other faiths to perform together in a spirit of mutual respect and collaboration.”

Where to view The Fes Festival

The Festival takes place every year in Fes, Morocco. Fes is located in the north of Morocco, above the Atlas Mountains and is known as the countries cultural capital.

Event locations vary throughout the city and take place at several different venues. What’s cool about the Fes Festival is that you can buy tickets for the full festival or just certain events, concerts or workshops. In the evenings, there are free concerts in Boujloud Square and at Dar Tazi.

Three nights will be dedicated concerts in the Medina, which is basically a busy city center made up of mazes and alleyways. However, it is super authentic, exciting and lively. Most people are super friendly and are happy to guide you around for a small price, but be careful with your money.

How to get around Fes

There is only one small airport in Fes, so you shouldn’t have any trouble getting there, however, once you are there you have a few options to get around. After leaving the airport you have a choice between two different types of taxi, bus, train or by foot/hitchhiking… or any combination of the five.

There are two different taxi types – “Grand” Taxis and “Petit” Taxis. Grand taxis are big, white and a bit more expensive than the Petit taxis which are red. Petit taxis only travel within Fez and don’t go to the airport.

There are also public busses, which can get super crowded but are also really affordable. Once you’ve got to where you’re staying, most people explore on foot. Fes can be super chaotic and confusing but most people are super keen on helping you find your way – so just ask.

Where to stay for the Fes Festival

There are plenty of places to stay for any type of budget but you’ll want to book accommodation well ahead of the festival so that you will be guaranteed a place.

You can find accommodation in traditional Medina houses for between $30-$80 USD (27 – 80 euros). This will typically include clean linens and towels, western-style toilets, a breakfast of coffee, tea or juice and traditional Moroccan bread and jam try: Best Hotels in Fes

If you have some extra dollars to spend you can upgrade to homestays with wifi, t.v, minibars, air conditioning and pools. And if you want to spoil yourself you can find luxury stays that offer Hammam and spa treatments. Of course, there is always the option to rent a house where you’ll have full use of a kitchen, daily cleaning services as well as a house manager that is always on call.
