How to get around Sölden?

Sölden is located in the West of Austria, in the province of TIROL to be more exact. It snuggles amid the ÖTZTAL Valley.

If you are an EU citizen, you do not need a visa to visit Austria as part of its Schengen agreement. You can get to this village by car, train or plane.

To cut down your travel time, search for direct flights to Innsbruck airport. From there you can reach the Ötztal by train as well. All local trains stop in Ötztal Bahnhof at the ingress to the valley. A public bus line or taxi can be taken from there.

Where to stay for Electric Mountain Festival?

There are around 10,000 beds in this beautiful alpine resort, but in peak season, getting an accommodation of your taste may become difficult. Hence, it is better to book the hotel where you intend to stay before arriving. The Saturday to Saturday booking is how it works in Sölden. So, you may face inconvenience to book a part week until a few days prior to arriving.

However, if you have just arrived, head to the leisure centre for the main tourist information. In case, if you find it closed, look out for pensions and hotels with green room available signs. If you are fortunate to find an accommodation in Sölden, try nearby Obergurgl or Vent. But since the public buses finish early, you might need a car for that.

Things to do in Sölden

Sölden is known for its beautiful sights, hiking and skiing fun, nightlife and great food. If you are a biker, you may enjoy the mountain biking in the area. It is of the best destinations in the Alps for winter sports.

From the valley itself, the newly opened Giggijochbahn and the Gaislachkoglbahn – the world’s most advanced cable cars – give snowboarders and skiers direct access to a wide range of pistes catering for all abilities.
