Dekmantel Festival 2019: Seven Summers Strong

Dekmantel Festival is a cutting edge music festival that takes place in the heard of Amsterdam each year. 2019 marks the 7th annual edition of the popular Dutch event, that welcomes the best electronic, house and techno music. The festival is known for encouraging its acts and artists to take risks and has grown to become one of the most respected music festivals in Europe.

Dekmantel Lineup 2019

The 7th annual edition of Dekmantel Festival will welcome a massive lineup across six stages. The festival will be headlined by popular names including Jeff Mills, Marcel Dettmann, Ben UFO, Blawan, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Dr. Rubinstein and more. You can also enjoy a wide variety of live acts and performances from the likes of Equiknoxx, Terrence Dixon, Marie Davidson, The Exaltics and more. 

Where to view Dekmantel Festival

Dekmantel Festival takes place at Amsterdam Bos, just outside the city centre of Amsterdam. You can find the event at 1182 DA Amstelveen, Netherlands. The festival will also host a number of events at nearby locations, including the Muziekgebouw ain’t IJ concert hall, the Tolhuistuin concert venue, club ‘Shelter’ and more. 

How to get around Amsterdam

The nearest major airport is Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, located approximately 20 minutes southwest of the city centre and 10 minutes from the festival grounds. The city of Amsterdam offers an extensive public transport network, making it easy to get around. Trains, trams, metros, buses and ferries are all available throughout Amsterdam. You can purchase GVB tickets which give you access to GVB trams, metros and buses. Tickets are 6.50 euros and valid for 90 minutes. You can also buy day and multi-day tickets for GVB transportation. You can also purchase the Amsterdam Travel Ticket, which is available for 1, 2 or 3 days and combines airport train and bus journeys with unlimited use of GVB transport. 

On the Thursday of the event, there will be a number of concerts spread out across multiple venues throughout Amsterdam. Dekmantel and the city of Amsterdam will provide free ferry transportation between the venues. To travel to the festival grounds and official campsite, you can take bus 199 from Schiphol Airport to ‘Camping Amsterdamse Bos’, followed by a short walk to the entrance. 

Where to stay for Dekmantel Festival

There are a number of accommodation options available throughout Amsterdam and surrounding the festival grounds. The official campground at Amsterdam Bos offers 150 cabins with over 700 beds. You can reserve accommodation directly through the campsite’s website. There is also a number of hotels within the vicinity of the event.

Nearby hotels include Hotel Cafe Restaurant Abina, Hotel Station Amstelveen, Amsterdam Forest Hotel and Hotel ibis Styles Amsterdam Airport; located just a short walk from the festival.

If you are attending the full schedule of events, it is recommended to stay close to the city centre for quick and easy access to the various participating clubs and venues. The city centre features numerous hotel and hostel options.

Things to do in Amsterdam

The bustling Dutch capital of Amsterdam offers countless things to see and do. The city is known for its iconic museums such as the Van Gough Museum, the Rijksmuseum and the Anne Frank House. Visitors also frequently take part in the official Heineken Experience, an interactive tour through the beer giant’s history.

Just outside the city centre, you can also find the famous Vondelpark; an expansive 19th-century urban park, featuring a playground, open-air theatre, lakes and more. Other popular attractions include Dam Square, the Royal Palace and the Bloemenmarkt floating flower market.
