Dava Festival 2019: The New Age Citadel

Dava Festival is an annual electronic music festival that takes place in Sighisoara, Romania. Organised in the unique medieval landscape of central Transylvania, the two-day festival merges elements modern festival ideas with a unique and traditional setting. The festival features two ‘out of this world’ stages, showcasing over 30 local and international DJs; as well as a food and drinks area and a breathtaking backdrop.

Dava Festival features a unique roster of musical talent focused on techno and tech-house music. This year’s edition will be headlined by Nick Warren, Fatima Hajji, Mahony, Nusha and Spektre. Also joining the roster will be the likes of Primarie, Marika, Carkeys, Alex Sharp and many more.

How to get around Sighisoara

The town of Sighisoara is located in the heart of Romania, between the major cities of Cluj-Napoca and Brasov. The nearest airports are Sibiu International Airport, which is an hour and a half away; and Cluj-Napoca Airport, located two and a half hours away.

Car rental options are readily available at both airports and offer convenient and flexible transport options. You can also travel to Sighisoara via public transport, with trains passing through the town multiple times daily. Upon arrival, you can easily get around the town on foot.

Things to do in Sighisoara

The historic municipality of Sighisoara, located in Transylvania, features a number of things to see and do. One of the main attractions is the Sighisoara Citadel, a UNESCO heritage listed site featuring a fortress with nine remaining towers. The towers include Tinsmiths’ Tower, Butchers Tower and Furriers Tower; which are all popular historical attractions.

Nearby, you can also find the Sighisoara Clock Tower, a 14th-century clock tower, which serves as the main gate to the citadel. You can also find a number of historic churches, including Klosterkirche, a Gothic church dating back to the 12th-century; and Holy Trinity Church, a Romanian Orthodox Church located on the river bank.
