Over 10,000 participants will partake in a multi-run event that winds through the historic cobblestone and asphalt streets of Copenhagen, Denmark.
The first ever Copenhagen Marathon took place in the spring of 1980 and the traditional race has never looked back. Runners get to enjoy a wide array of the city from the vegetative lands of Osterbro to the cultural towns of Norrebro and Vesterbro before finishing on Islands Brygge. The course has a flat elevation profile making the race a genuine city marathon. Spectators and runners alike will be able to appreciate the extravagant architecture and distinguishable character of the city.
The loop-style course will start and finish at Islands Brygge. Runners will follow an epic route that will take them down the center of Copenhagen, passing the Little Mermaid, Parliament building and the Royal Palace. Additionally, live music and several other forms of entertainment will be played for all those in attendance.

The Copenhagen Marathon will commence at 9:30 a.m. on May 17 at the Islands Brygge starting line. Spectators can claim spots anywhere on the course, yet the best views are closest to the harbour. From this position you can take in the full panoramic view of the city including its impressive monuments and unique historical towers. Participating in this race essentially gives you a free ticket to the city’s sightseeing tour!
