Breckenridge Oktoberfest 2024: One of the LARGEST festivals in the Rocky Mountains

This summer Germany comes to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Giving guests the experience of a truly unique taste of Germany with an Oktoberfest right here in America. Nestled amongst the Alpine forests in the mountains, the Breckenridge Oktoberfest gives patrons a feeling of being on some hillside in a small German village. With so much to see and do during the festival such as live music, German cuisine, and of course lots of BIER (BEER!). There is plenty of Keg tapping to keep you more than entertained and of course, there are plenty of family and children’s activities to keep everyone in high spirits.

What Oktoberfest would be complete without an array of German games like Hammerschlagen, which sounds honestly like a like of fun despite us having no idea what it is exactly. There are face painting stations for the kids and for those of us with a kid at heart. There is also a 5k run that will take place and of course no truly Bavarian beer fest experience can be complete without lots of Polka dancing and music.

So come to the American Alps and enjoy a taste of German, das ist gut!

Where is Breckenridge Oktoberfest 2024

Breckenridge closes its Main Street to blend a unique Alpine feel with traditional German fair featuring more than three-dozen genuine German cuisine and brew vendors. So it takes place right in town so you won’t miss any of the fun!

There is no entry fee to get in and if you want you can always ask about volunteer opportunities to assist with this wonderful festival.

How to get around Breckenridge

Breckenridge is a small mountain community southwest of Denver, in North Central Colorado. The festival itself takes place in the small downtown area in the community so walking is going to be how you are will enjoy the festival.

The surrounding area is mostly small towns with scenic and majestic views of the surrounding rocky mountains. So you are going to need to either have your own vehicle or a rental car to get around in the area.

Where to stay in Breckenridge for Oktoberfest

The town as mentioned before is small, but there are plenty of accommodations in the surrounding area. It is an area with a lot of skiing in the winter and outdoor recreation in the summer so tourists are a big source of income for the area. So naturally, there are plenty of hotels, around 200 or so in the immediate area. However, this is one of the most popular festivals in the Rocky Mountains so do yourself a favor and book in advance.

If camping is more your ideal way to enjoy your little slice of Bavaria, there is plenty of camping in the area in the form of state parks and national forest campgrounds. As well as dispersed camping for the more adventurous.

Want to enjoy the finer things in life? There are also a number of places to stay that offer cabin rentals as well, some even have hot tubs!

Things to Do in Breckenridge

The Festival lasts all weekend but the fun does not stop or start with that, the surrounding area is home to some of our favorite places to fly fish, the Eagle River. There are plenty of hiking trails and outdoor recreation in the area to keep you more than occupied.

You might even be able to find a late-season whitewater float down the nearby Eagle river while you are in town. There are also a number of places to eat, movie theaters, museums, and places to shop till you drop.
